- Rum Runner’s Pack (новый алкоголь, перк «Пьяница», новый спутник);
- The Beard and Hair Pack (прически и бороды);
- Scalawags Pack (новые матросы и улучшения для корабля);
- The Deck of Many Things Pack (торговец редкими артефактами).

Release[]
Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire was released on May 8, 2018 (exactly 1 year, 2 months and 13 days from the completion of the Fig campaign) on Windows, Linux and macOS, via Steam, GOG, Origin and the Mac App Store.
Czech-based developer Grip Digital was sub-contracted to develop a port to console platforms (Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One). The port would address adapting Pillars’ traditionally mouse-based UI to work for touch and gamepad-based input, and would include a number of performance optimizations for the hardware. While the project was originally scheduled for completion in Q4 2018, it saw a number of significant delays. Upon the release of The Forgotten Sanctum in December 2018, Obsidian announced that the game would ship to consoles some time in 2019. However this was eventually pushed back on December 9, 2019, when publisher Versus Evil announced that the game would finally be coming to Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on January 28, 2020, with the Nintendo Switch version following «later in the year.» This comes almost 2 years after the original PC release. The announcement detailed that the console version will be distributed both digitally via the Microsoft Store, PlayStation Store, and Nintendo eShop, as well as physically through a partnership with publisher THQ Nordic. The physical release will come in the form of a Standard release and an Ultimate Collector’s Edition, which bundles in a number of physical bonuses. As announced, the game was released to consoles on January 28, 2020.
Editions
On PC, Mac and Linux, three different editions of the game are available for purchase — Digital Standard, Deluxe, and Obsidian editions. These editions are only available on Steam and GOG, and provide additional digital and in-game content on top of the base game. The expansions, season pass, and the Explorer’s Pack can also be purchased individually.
On consoles, the release is consolidated to a single «Ultimate Edition», including the base game and its expansions up to patch 5.0, but no digital bonus content. The console release also includes a «Ultimate Collector’s Edition», which contains a few physical bonuses that were previously only available during the .

Quality[]
Quality enchantments can only be found on weapons, shields and armor. An item can only benefit from one quality enchantment at a time, but a quality enchantment can be upgraded by crafting.
The order of quality enchantments is as follows:
Terrible → Normal → Fine → Exceptional → Superb → Legendary → Mythic
Accurate and Damaging are extra quality enchantments that add bonus weapon accuracy and damage respectively.

Progression[]
In Pillars of Eternity
- At character creation, wizards select 4x 1st level spells, and automatically learn the spell Arcane Assault.
- Wizards are spellcasters, but unlike priests and druids, they do not learn all spells at each tier. Instead, they pick 1 spell at every even level (2, 4, 6, etc), and 2 spells at every odd level (excluding the first — 3, 5, 7, etc.).
- As spellcasters, wizards limited to the amount of casts that can be made per rest at each tier (see the table below).
- At every odd level (1, 3, 5, etc.), the next tier of spells are unlocked.
- Spell Mastery allows the spellcaster to pick a single spell to switch to «per encounter» restoration. This occurs at level 9, 11, 13, and 15, for 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th level (or lower) and spells respectively.
- As with other classes, wizards learn one talent at every even level (2, 4, 6, etc.).

In Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire
- At character creation, wizards select one 1st level spell (active only). This does not change for multiclass characters.
- As with other classes, wizards pick 2 spells/abilities at every level where a new power level is unlocked excluding the first (3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, 16, 19), and one spell/ability at all other levels (1, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 15, 17, 18, 20). Ability points may be spent on active or passive abilities, and on any currently-unlocked power levels.
- As spellcasters, wizards are limited to the amount of spell casts that can be made per encounter at each tier, though this scales with their level (see the table below).
- As with other classes, new ability power levels are learned every second level from level 1 (1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13), then every third level from level 13 (16, 19).

Interactions[]
This character has no special interactions. | ||
This character is a merchant. | Sells: Basic weapons and armor |
Other interactions
- Mentioned by Odema as the one who might be able to equip someone before they head out, Heodan will likely be the first person in the game, the protagonist has an extensive dialogue with – after the introduction from Odema. This talk will also be the first opportunity to make steps into characterization, in building a disposition. Depending on dialogue choices, a minor shift is possible for clever, cruel or passionate and for diplomatic or rational.
- Heodan then acts as a merchant in the encampment; see below for a list of items, he’s selling.
- Due to events during a Moment’s Respite, his services become unavailable when a certain waterskin gets examined. These events may or may not lead to Heodan’s death. In the latter case, he will become a temporary companion for the protagonist’s escape through the Ruins of Cilant Lîs, but no further. See the respective quest articles for detailed information.
Heodan’s Supplies
Prior to the return to camp with water during a Moment’s Respite, Heodan sells a variety of basic items from the back of his wagon. After those events, however, his services as a merchant will no longer be available.
Heodan buys at a rate of 375% of the regular item value, rounded down, and he sells for double this value, rounded up.

Features[]
- Character/Savegame import from Pillars of Eternity, part I
- Multi-classing
- Subclasses: each class can select from two sub-classes.
- Level cap: 20
- AI scripting customization
- Similar to Od Nua, an area growing with the number of backers: Fulvano’s Voyage
- A new inventory slot for class-specific «trinkets»
- Weapons and shields may be assigned to multiple weapon sets
- Expansion of the skill system: many passive skills for dialogs and scripted interactions will be added – such as Religion, Metaphysics and Streetwise; points will be gained separately for active and passive skills; the player character will benefit from companions’ skills
- Returning companions: Aloth; Edér; Pallegina
- New companions: Maia Rua, the sister of Kana Rua, with her ranger animal companion Ishiza; Serafen, an orlan cipher/barbarian, and a pirate; Xoti, a mixed human priest/monk; Tekēhu, an Aumaua godlike chanter/druid
Usage[]
Skills come to play in a variety of different contexts and partially determine
how the player character or their followers can interact with the world around them.
Notably, only the Watcher’s skills are taken into account in dialogue (i.e. a dialogue option that requires 8 Lore won’t be available to a Watcher with 7 Lore, even if they have Durance with 12 Lore in the party). Other party members can use their skills in regular gameplay (the game will automatically select the character with the highest applicable score whenever eg. Mechanics are used) and scripted interactions where it’s possible to select a character to carry it out (i.e. retrieving the dragon egg during Nest Egg, where you can pick a character with a high Athletics score).
Effects
Skill | Purpose | Gameplay effect | Use in interactions and conversations(based on the in-game description) |
---|---|---|---|
Stealth | allows characters of any class to attempt to avoid being seen or heard | Can stay close to NPCs in scouting mode for a longer period without being seen | |
Athletics | Once per encounter, characters with Athletics can use the Second Wind ability to recover lost Endurance. A higher Athletics score increases the effect of Second Wind | Used in interactions that require physical exertion, such as climbing, jumping, running, or swimming. | |
Lore | A character’s accumulated miscellaneous knowledge and trivia, often of occult or esoteric topics |
Lore allows characters to use scrolls. Which level is available is determined by dividing the Lore score by 2 (with a minimum of 1). As such:
|
For picking up on relevant historical or cultural contexts, contributing general knowledge, or using own mastery of lore in conversation. |
Mechanics | Makes it easier to open locks, find and disable traps, and place traps of your own.
Also needed to find hidden loot and switches, as neither Perception nor Stealth do this. |
This skill allows you to disarm traps and pick locks. If the difficulty level is equivalent or lower than the Mechanics rating, it’s free. If it’s one level higher, it costs a variable amount of lock picks (the higher the level, the more lock picks it needs). Anything above and picking or disarming is not possible. Each level of mechanics also grants +3 accuracy for own traps per level. |
For any mechanical purposes, such as interacting with machines, disarming and arming traps or mechanisms, etc. |
Survival | Allows characters to choose from a variety of long-term bonuses each time they camp. | The first six ranks grant the following bonuses:
Note: After 6th rank, the previously earned bonuses become more powerful in the same order they were received (for a max of 3 levels of bonuses). |
Used in wilderness challenges, and for contributing specialized knowledge of nature or alchemy. |
По следам спящего бога
Дополнение вышло в духе оригинальной игры — основной упор разработчики сделали на сюжет, но при этом не забыли и про другой важный контент.

Melee weapons[]
Different melee weapons will have different attack speeds, but for most weapons will be categorized by their relative handedness and speed (Fast One-Handed, Large One-Handed, and Two-Handed). Fast one-handed weapons attack more frequently than large one-handed weapons. Two-handed Weapons are almost universally hard-hitting weapons, that can deal more damage per-hit than their one-handed counterparts, but you cannot use a shield with them or use a second weapon.
Fast one-handed weapons are particularly effective against enemies with low damage reduction and two-handed weapons are particularly effective against enemies with high damage reduction.

Roles[]
Eothas is the god of light, redemption, hope, and rebirth. Priests of Eothas are honest and kind in their dealings, condemning all expressions of cruelty and falsehood.
Gaun is an aspect of Eothas that emphasizes the natural ending of mortal life. Commonly represented as a farmer carrying a lantern and sickle, Gaun is a figure of cyclical death as opposed to Rymrgand’s entropic one or Berath’s cold inevitability. The sickle he carries, reaps what is sowed in life, and the lantern guides the deceased through death and rebirth. It is believed that Gaun, instead of Berath’s avatars, visits those who embrace death with acceptance.
Abilities[]
Priests have few personal buffs, few single-target strike spells, some crowd control abilities, many AoE buffs and healing spells. They can use combo attacks with other priests and are the first class that is able to provide party wide healing.
Spells
Priests do not gain power directly from their deity, but from their belief in the deity and the tenets of their religion. Priests gather energy into their own souls and release it through the use of specific prayers. These prayers form the common spells priests use in battle, ranging from healing magic and divine attacks to a variety of blessings and curses. Relying on large area of effect bonuses mixed with small area offensive spells to direct combat from afar.
Priests gain access to all spells of a given level as soon as he/she is able to cast from that level, but their overall access is limited by their faith.
Compared to wizards, priests have access to a smaller number of spells overall but do not need to prepare those spells in a grimoire. And while priests do have offensive spells, they are smaller in area and generally weaker in power than similar effects available to wizards and druids.
Skill development planning[]
As the maximum character level in Pillars of Eternity is 12 (14 in and 16 in ), the highest achievable skill ranks are strictly limited. At each level-up, the character gains 6 new skill points, which means each character is only allowed to distribute the following total amount of skill points:
Game | Total skill points gained via levelling up |
---|---|
Pillars of Eternity | 66 (=11×6) |
Pillars of Eternity: The White March — Part I | 78 (=13×6) |
Pillars of Eternity: The White March — Part II | 90 (=15×6) |
Class and Backround innate skill bonuses
Skill points allocation pool creates a practical limit on maximum skill ranks a character can achieve in game. However, since each class and background gives one to two initial points to certain skills, character can have a combined innate bonus to a skill of up to 4 points. These free innate bonuses (especially when combined from both class and background) can greatly increase the absolute «basic» skill (i.e., not counting buffs) maximum achievable for a character.
For example, a Ranger with the Colonist background would have an innate bonus +4 to Survival skill, which would allow him to achieve level 16 in Survival by investing total of 78 skill points into the skill when levelling up. By wearing a proper item increasing the Survival skill, he can even achieve rank 18, which will unlock an amazing «+30% Damage to Flanked targets» resting bonus.

Talent skill bonuses for main character
Besides these innate bonuses granted by class and background, skills of the player character can be additionally increased by certain :
Skill | Talent | Bonus |
---|---|---|
Stealth | Blooded Hunter | +1 |
Dungeon Delver | +1 | |
Skaen’s Boon (Deific Boon) | +1 | |
Athletics | Galawain’s Boon (Deific Boon) | +1 |
Lore | Hylea’s Boon (Deific Boon) | +1 |
Mechanics | Dungeon Delver | +1 |
Survival | Rymrgand’s Boon (Deific Boon) | +1 |
Since can only be gained during the Council of Stars quest in the very finale of the game, the only talents that really influence the gameplay are the Dungeon Delver and Blooded Hunter. And since both Mechanics and Stealth skills, which are increased by these talents (for +2 Stealth and +1 Mechanics total), have to be raised as high as possible in the game, this effectively makes Rogue the best class for the protagonist character (at least skill-wise).
Notable skill thresholds
There are several important skill thresholds which should be taken into account when planning the skill development of each character. These include (but might not be limited to):
-
Stealth:
no strict threshold, but getting it as high as possible will allow character to be undetected when scouting
-
Athletics:
1 point: grants the Second Wind ability (consecutive points enhance it)
-
Lore:
- 8 points: enough to cast most scroll spells (that is, except Scroll of Maelstrom in , except Scroll of Restore Critical Endurance in and except Scroll of Prayer Against Imprisonment and Scroll of Prayer Against Treachery in )
- 10 points: enough to cast all scroll spells in and
- 12 points: enough to cast all scroll spells in (but the only is Scroll of Prayer Against Treachery, so if you do not need to cast this one, Lore 10 would be enough also in )
-
Mechanics:
- 12 points: the highest Mechanics needed in (i.e., this is enough to unlock all locks, disarm all traps and to detect all hidden objects in game)
- 14 points: the highest Mechanics needed in except two places (Crägholdt Bluffs and Galvino’s Workshop)
- 15 points: the highest Mechanics needed in
-
Survival:
- 1 point: +1 Damage Reduction
- 4 points: +10 Accuracy against creature type (at rank 10/15 this bonus increases only by 5 to +15/+20 Accuracy)
- 6 points: +10% Damage to Flanked targets
- 12 points: +20% Damage to Flanked targets
- 13 points: +3 Damage Reduction
- 18 points: +30% Damage to Flanked targets

- Darcozzi Paladini – Paladin order of legendary elite guards of Darcozzi Palace in the Grand Empire of Vailia. They set standards for selfless dedication, unwavering loyalty, and inspiring leadership that have become the pillars for similar orders that have sprung up in this part of the world in the two millennia since they were founded.
- Fellows of St. Waidwen Martyr – Religious paladin order that defends the Godhammer pilgrim path for their god Eothas.
- Frermàs mes Canc Suolias – Vailian political paladin order. The translation of the name is Brotherhood of the Five Suns.
- Goldpact Knights – Paladin order that is devoted to a rigid way of living/working/existing(essentially mercenary paladins). They are believers in the idea that payment/gold is a solemn bond that must be upheld at all costs. They are the most «professional» and least morally-concerned paladin order players can select.
- Kind Wayfarers – A paladin order of Knights-errant who assist troubled travelers and celebrate love, condemning deception and malice evenwhen dealing with their enemies. The Kind Wayfarers are a diverse group of people and can be found all over the known world.
