Appearance

Ryne as «Minfilia».

Ryne is a teenage girl, around the same age as the Leveilleur twins, with long blonde hair and glowing sapphire eyes. She wears a pure white dress, a pink ribbon tied on a small bit of braided hair on her right side, and a pair of combat boots.

After inheriting the powers of the Oracle of Light, Ryne gains red hair and pale blue eyes. This appearance is assumed to be her original look restored to her as a parting by the Oracle of Light.

Personality

Much like the Minfilia from the Source, Ryne is kind and caring, wishing to help those in need and those she can still save. As she is still young and constantly overseen, Ryne is shy and reserved, often relying on others for comfort and support, leading to self-doubt and worrying about her worth. After seeing the resolve and determination of the Warrior of Darkness and the Scions of the Seventh Dawn, Ryne gains a new sense of resolve, which leads her to stand up against Ran’jit.

Her relationship with Thancred Waters, her liberator and protector, is complex. As Ryne is not the Minfilia he knows and holds dear, Thancred struggled to accept Ryne. Though he followed through Minfilia’s wishes in protecting Ryne as he once did for her, he still kept her at a distance and was reluctant to have her embrace her role as the Oracle of Light. This led Ryne to believe that Thancred hated her. However, after hearing her words of resolve and determination against Ran’jit, Thancred apologizes for his earlier behavior.

How do I maximize my EXP?

All roles benefit the most by doing the , , and roulettes every day. However, due to the discrepancy between queue times for Tanks/Heals vs. DPS — you may find yourself having to skip the queue as a DPS. (Correct as of 01DEC16)

  • If you are under level 26, do not forget to equip your Friendship Circlet!
  • If you are under level 31, do not forget to also equip your Brand-new Ring!
  • If you are under level 51, do not forget to also also equip your Ala Mhigan Earrings (Stormblood pre-order purchasers only).
  • If you are under level 71, do not forget to also also equip your Aetheryte Earring (Shadowbringers pre-order purchasers only).
  • If you are under level 80, do not forget to also also equip your Menphina’s Earring (Endwalker pre-order purchasers only).

The best method for leveling up will be to do the following (ordered by priority);

  1. (simultaneously completes weekly Dungeon Challenge Logs)
  2. (if unlocked)
  3. (If Tank/Heals) —
  4. (If under level 30) — (simultaneously completes weekly Guildhest Challenge Logs)
  5. If you have rested EXP — queue for the highest level dungeon you can and do «full clears» (kill all the mobs). If you’re a DPS below 60 and have a Rank 2 Squadron, consider Command Missions for instant queues. Similarly, DPS over 71 may wish to consider using the Trust System.
  6. Otherwise do Deep Dungeons
    1. Palace of the Dead — specifically floors 1-10 or 51-60 to maximize EXP per hour.
    2. Heaven on High (level 61+) — specifically floors 21-30 to maximize EXP per hour.
  7. Complete daily Beast Tribe Quests (Stormblood), Grind FATEs, complete Hunting Logs, or advance the Main Scenario Quest (if available) while waiting in a dungeon queue or if you do not have any rested EXP.

History[]

Gaia as Loghrif.

In her past life, she was the Ascian who bore the title of Loghrif. She and her protector, Mitron, were originally tasked with preventing the flood of light on the First, before Emet-Selch instructed them to bring about a Calamity. Although nearly successful in destroying the First in a flood of light, Loghrif was killed shortly before the Flood, and was reincarnated a century later as a girl born in Eulmore. A voice eventually contacted her telepathically, later revealed to be an incapacitated Mitron, erasing most of her memories while tasking her to free him from his sin eater form, Eden.

Gaia makes her presence known shortly after Ryne reactivates Eden. The Warrior defeats her, and she loses consciousness once Mitron’s hold on her wanes. Thancred Waters takes her into the Scions’ custody to speak with her once she regains consciousness.

Gaia wakes up and arrives in Mord Souq, along with Thancred carrying all her luggage, from Eulmore. She claims to have grown up there, and yet not a single soul knew her, nor did she remember anything of note. She pushes away any connection with the Warrior’s party outside of trying to press on to Eden where she hopes to find out more about herself and the darkness that possesses her. Upon wandering off on her own, Gaia is discovered to have great yet uncontrollable dark magic that speaks in her head to her, revealing it was the voice that named her, Gaia having forgotten her own.

The Warrior’s party restores the aetherial elements to the Empty, but their discussions about Eden end up frustrating Gaia and lead her to march off. Ryne attempts to connect with her, desiring a friend her own age, but Gaia shuts her out. The darkness within her eventually manifests and summons a sin eater that the Warrior of Light protects her from. While trapped in the emptiness of her mind, Gaia laments the isolation, and admits she would welcome the party’s presence now. Upon waking up, Ryne’s relief at her recovery is not unwelcome, and Gaia slowly starts to cooperate with the party more. When Ryne loses control of Shiva’s powers in an attempt to restore the ice element to the Empty, Gaia dives in to save her. Afterward, she begins to properly befriend Ryne, even spending time away from the Empty casually with her.

After the Scions return to the Source following Elidibus’s defeat, Gaia and Ryne have grown closer. They plan holding a festival at the Crystarium to celebrate the renewal of the First. They and the Warrior check up on the Empty, only to find the greenery dried up with the crystal focus shifted to Light. Gaia proposes using Darkness to balance out the Light. Both Gaia and Ryne combine their powers with the Warrior’s memories to create a version of the Cloud of Darkness, whose defeat shifts the focus into an iridescent scheme. At that moment Mitron, the one who had implanted the idea in Gaia’s head, acquired the strength to project himself from Eden. Mitron formally introduces himself while revealing he became Eden when struck by Ardbert’s Blade of Light.

When Gaia demands why Mitron used her, as he claims the know each other well, he invites her to come into Eden and learn their true relationship. Once Gaia and Ryne arrive, Mitron uses the aether to create a facsimile of the Shadowkeeper that Ardbert and his comrades defeated long ago to stir her memories as Loghrif. When that fails, Mitron exerts his power to stir Gaia’s ambient darkness to reveal her identity as Loghrif reincarnated. He forces a fusion to transform them into an Ascian Prime, with Gaia resisting in presence of her friends even as the fusion restored her past life’s memories. Mitron decides to completely erase Gaia’s memories as not to lose Loghrif, intending to have Eden absorb Gaia. He uses the aether to transform their Ascian Prime form into Eden’s Promise, only to be killed while releasing an unconscious Gaia back into the Empty.

As Ryne and the Warrior attempt to revive her, Gaia is in her mindscape where she has a final conversation with the dying Mitron whose soul is freed from Eden to be reborn. She promises they will meet again and intends to record her memories into a diary for future generations. Gaia regains consciousness after remembering Ryne, and sees the Empty fully restored to its natural state. With her memories of Ryne and the others slowly returning, Gaia decides to not to look into her past identity before Mitron found her, and instead focus on the future and helping others.

History[]

Legacy Final Fantasy XIV

Nael van Darnus, the Legatus of the VIIth Legion, called upon Dalamud using forbidden Allagan magic. Her defeat at under the combined forces of the Grand Companies did not halt Dalamud’s descent. The symbols of the Twelve appeared across Eorzea, etched into stone and pulsing with a faint, comforting glow. Claiming that the gods would be stirred from slumber by the united prayers of their vassals, the Elezen scholar Louisoix Leveilleur encouraged the people of Eorzea to seek out these symbols and offer supplication to the Twelve. Later on, he confessed to his chosen adventurers that the symbols were carved by none other than himself. On his search for an item he would describe as Daybreak, he had created the spiritual anchors as part of a ritual to save their realm—the summoning of the Twelve.

Louisoix led the three-nation army at Carteneau Plains in Mor Dhona, where the forces of the Garlean Empire and the Eorzean Alliance met in a conclusive battle. The battle slowed to a halt as Dalamud broke up to unleash the elder primal Bahamut whose fury instigated the Seventh Umbral Era. Louisoix summoned the power of the Twelve, and columns of light erupted from the marked stones taking shapes reminiscent Dalamud’s spires and piercing Bahamut twelve times over, binding him in place as a radiant sphere engulfed him. Aetherial glyphs manifested in the skies, surrounding the elder primal’s prison with the symbols of his captors, and the ritual failed. Though Louisoix came close to resealing Bahamut, he held back knowing that the simultaneous summoning of twelve deities would wound Hydaelyn. Nourished by the aether of a dying realm, Bahamut converged on a growing sphere. Louisoix consigned himself to his fate, using what energy remained to conjure the power of and deliver the adventurers beyond the reach of time and space.

Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn

Gaius van Baelsar has compared the Twelve to the beast tribes’ primals, regarding them as «eikons» and insinuating they could be summoned with sufficient . This is supported by Little Ala Mhigo involving an abandoned scheme by young refugees, who hoped to steal the Amalj’aa’s crystal supply to summon Rhalgr to enact vengeance on the Garlean Empire. Later, Nabriales claims that Louisoix had evoked the Twelve without a large sum of crystals through use of the Tupsimati.

Final Fantasy XIV: Heavensward

Primals are not the original being, but imitations, or what somebody’s vision of that being would be given form. Therefore, the Twelve themselves cannot be summoned this way, but a primal in their image can be. As such, Gaius’s theory about summoning the Twelve, and the scheme to summon Rhalgr, are somewhat incorrect.

Final Fantasy XIV: Shadowbringers

Based on the similar names and imagery used in their backgrounds, Urianger Augurelt speculates that Azem, one of ancient Amaurot’s Convocation of Fourteen, may be related to the Twelve’s and the deity Azim in some way — though he admits at this time it is little more than a theory which may never be proven.

Additional Content

The united efforts of Eorzea’s volunteer gatherer’s and crafters eventually lead to the rebuilding of the Mendicant’s Court, allowing the Skybuilders to focus their reconstruction efforts on other areas of Ishgard. Players looking to offer their skills can speak with Augebert in the Firmament to proceed with the restoration storyline, opening up new crafting and construction options, including more Concerted Works, which can be monitored via the Skybuilder’s Board (X:11.4, Y:14.1).

From here on, players will require completely different materials compared to those used during the previous phase, though you can still hand in older materials for a slightly decreased reward if desired.

By handing in special materials or crafted items during the new restoration project, players will also earn a Skybuilders’ Ranking. To check your ranking, pay a visit to Ludovraint (X:10.6, Y:14.6) at the Firmament.

Process[]

Synthesis is begun from the Crafting Log, and any Disciple of the Hand class can perform synthesis as soon as their appropriate tool is equipped. Other than the tool, Synthesis requires materials and crystals to function.

Classes

The following classes are Disciples of the Hand and can perform Synthesis:

Name Proficiency
Alchemist (ALC) Can transform materials into restorative or enhancing medicines. They can also create weapons for White Mages, Summoners, and Scholars.
Armorer (ARM) Works with ores and metals to produce heavy armor and shields. They can also create tools for Culinarians and Alchemists.
Blacksmith (BSM) Works with ores and metals to create weapons and tools. They can create weapons for Paladins, Warriors, Dark Knights, Gunbreakers, Monks, Samurai, Machinists and Dancers, and tools for Botanists, Miners, Leatherworkers, Carpenters, Armorers, Blacksmiths, Goldsmiths.
Carpenter (CRP) Works with lumber. They can produce weapons for Bards, Dragoons, White Mages, and Black Mages, and tools for Fishers, Goldsmiths, and Weavers. They can also create a vast array of housing furniture, as well as some shields and accessories.
Culinarian (CUL) Works with items from various crafting classes and reagent items to create food, which can be consumed to gain buffs. Unlike other crafting classes, they do not make gear for other classes, but the buffs the food provide can be helpful in many situations.
Goldsmith (GSM) Works with gems and metal. They can create accessories, weapons for Black Mages, Red Mages, and Astrologians, and tools for Weavers.
Leatherworker (LTW) Works with hides, furs and pelts to create leather-based equipment. Can create medium armors for combat classes and well as most gathering armors, in addition to gear for gathering classes. They can also make accessories, some Monk weapons, and glamour equipment.
Weaver (WVR) Works with fabric and fiber to create cloth-based equipment. Can make light armors for crafting and caster classes. Can also create a large amount of glamour equipment.

Crafting

The Crafting Log.

Crafting is begun by selecting the recipe from the Crafting Log, and then selecting the Synthesize option. Once the Synthesis has begun, the crafter will take actions to finish the final item. Each action depletes an items’ durability stat, but there are several abilities which can restore durability. They can either increase the quality or the progress. Many actions cost CP to use. The quality at completion will determine the odds of an item becoming High quality when synthesized. quality lies on an exponential scale, where the odds of a High quality synthesis is not increased by much until after half an item’s quality is gained, at which point the chance will rise much more rapidly with quality increases. The quality is generally increased when aiming to achieve High quality, but quality increases will provide a bonus to experience gained upon completion. As a result, those leveling their crafting classes are encouraged to aim to increase quality as much as possible, even if not aiming for a High quality synthesis.

Etymology[]

Bahamut (Arabic بهموت Bahamūt) originated as an enormous whale in ancient pre-Islamic Arabian mythology. Upon Bahamut’s back stands a bull with four thousand eyes, ears, noses, mouths, tongues and feet called Kujuta (also spelled «Kuyutha»). Between each of these is a distance of a 500-year journey. On the back of Kujuta is a mountain of ruby. Atop this mountain is an angel who carries six hells, earth, and seven heavens on its shoulders.

Another version of the Arabic story is that Bahamut is indeed a dragon and he stands on a whale called Liwash.

In modern times, the game Dungeons & Dragons is responsible for re-imagining Bahamut as the king of dragons, a benevolent Platinum Dragon; the opposite of the malevolent Tiamat, the five-headed Chromatic Queen of Dragons.

Kupo of Fortune

Disciples of the Hand (crafters) can now partake in the new mini-game Kupo of Fortune — a scratch card which is usable after earning five vouchers. Said vouchers are acquired by handing in specific items to Potkin (X:12.2, Y:14.6) at the Firmament.

Once the five vouchers have been acquired, and the scratch card has been brought to Lizbeth (X:12.2, Y:14.6) in the Firmament, players can select one of three panels from the right side of the scratch card for a chance of receiving one of the listed rewards (1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th). Alternatively, players can select the single left panel for a chance at receiving a reward listed in 2nd, 3rd or 4th place. In short, the left panel will never provide the player with the 1st or 5th prize. Only a single panel can be selected per scratch card, so choose wisely!

Speaking to Potkin will also unlock project-specific recipes and add them to your crafting log.

Ratings

PvP Ratings

A player’s PvP rating is a value that represents their relative skill compared to other participants of the Feast. Each person will be given an individual rating and a four-person party rating, which will fluctuate independently of one another.

PvP ratings will only be affected by rated matches, increasing with each match won and decreasing with each match lost by the player. Should any of these matches result in a tie, PvP ratings will remain unaffected.

Duty Finder will match participants in the Feast 4 on 4 – Solo based upon their PvP ratings. To prevent any large disparities between teams from occurring, players will be distributed so the average rating of both sides will be equal.

Ratings will not change with static parties and 4 on 4 matches, but will be used to match players to someone with a similar rating.

  • Players with a PvP rating of less than 500 will remain unaffected by losses.
  • Players who experience a loss of connection, log out, or quit during the middle of a match or promotion qualifier will lose by default. However, should a player reconnect before results are tallied, their rating will increase or decreased based on the results of the match.
  • In the event of a server crash, ongoing matches will be voided, and will have no effect on player rankings and wolf marks.

Tiers

A player’s tier represents their standing in the hierarchy of the Feast, and is determined by the player’s PvP rating. There are five tiers in total. When a season ends, players will receive rewards based on their tier placement.

Promotion Qualifiers

To advance to higher tiers, players must participate in promotion qualifiers. Once the requisite PvP rating has been reached, players will earn the right to fight in up to five promotion qualifiers. At least three of these matches must be won in order to advance to the next tier. Progress can be monitored by selecting PvP Profile located under Character in the main menu.

  • PvP ratings may still increase or decrease when participating in promotion qualifiers.
  • In the event of a tie, the match will not be counted during promotion qualifiers.
  • In the event a player’s PvP rating drops below the minimum required for the current tier, that player will be demoted to the next lower tier. However, players cannot be demoted lower than bronze.

Seasons

A season refers to the set period within which participants of the Feast must strive to achieve the highest possible PvP rating and tier. At the end of each season, players will receive rewards based on their final tier. Participants that fulfill certain conditions will also be eligible to receive special season bonuses. Class Job and Role Quests

Class quests and job quests are given by your class guild master and other leaders of your chosen profession. They can be completed to earn new skills and abilities, along with gear and other items. These quests are available every few levels and it is recommended to complete them as soon as they become available.

  • Class Quests – These quests cover the story up to level 30 for each combat class, and through all levels for the crafting and gathering classes.
  • Job Quests – Combat classes turn into jobs at level 30, after which the quests are considered job quests.
  • Role Quests — Introduced in Shadowbringers (5.0), for combat jobs
  • Crystalline Mean Quests — Introduced in Shadowbringers (5.0), for crafting and gathering classes
