Descriptions
Website description
The Citron is a time-traveling bounty hunter from the future… and also an orange. His one of a kind transformation ability allows him to get into the action faster than any other Plant, then instantly transform to attack mode for maximum effectiveness!
Stickerbook description
Citron is a time-traveling bounty hunter from the future, who also happens to be an orange. He’s here to chew bubblegum and kick Z-Mech butt, and he’s all out of bubblegum.
In-game description
Use his ball form to roll right into the action before switching to attack mode, laying waste to Zombies with his Orange Beam!
Unused Summonables
Fire Pea
Although the Fire Pea does appear in the final game as an NPC, it never appears as a pottable plant. It’s similar to the Pea Cannon, but shoots fire projectiles instead.
Ice Pea
Likewise, the Ice Pea also appears in game as an NPC, appearing in the Zomburger Delivery Challenges, but is not summonable as a potted plant. It fires frozen peas which slow down and eventually freeze zombies.
Magnifying Grass
The Magnifying Grass would’ve been used to lower the zombies’ attack.
Power Lily
The Power Lily would’ve increased the damage output of nearby plants.
Pea Repeater
Also similar to the Fire Pea and Ice Pea, but it would shoot out two projectiles. This version of the potted plant would later return in Battle for Neighborville… but as a regular Peashooter.
Food Fight Pea
An unused, textureless Pea-Cannon-like plant. It is unknown what it does, though it could be related to the Food Fight event, which usually happens around Thanksgiving.
Fence Weed
An unused plant summonable and zombie enemy known as the Fence Weed. It would’ve most likely act like a Coffin Zombie. It was most likely replaced with the Vase Weed seen in the final game.
An unused Bot which would’ve boosted nearby zombies’ damage output. It has animations, an icon, and a model.

Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare

Tips And Trivia
- Zoom Upgrade is for characters suited at medium/long range such as: Commando Pea, Camo Cactus, Camo Ranger, Astronaut, Pops Corn, and Agent Pea as it lets them zoom faster/farther and improves accuracy.
- Fire Upgrade is exclusive to Fire Variants such as: Fire Pea, BBQ Corn, Lil’ Drake, and Cricket Star as it lets them deal more fire damage. The fire effect without the upgrade deals 5 damage per second until 3 seconds after last being hit by a fire based attack on average, but the fire upgrade makes the fire effect deal more damage per second/increase the duration of the fire effect.
- Ice Upgrade is exclusive to Ice Variants such as: Ice Pea, Frost Rose, Yeti Chomper, Frozen Citron, AC Perry, and Goalie Star. The Ice Pea without the upgrade takes 3 direct hits on a zombie to freeze it on average, but the ice upgrade makes the enemy freeze faster/increase duration of the chill effect after last being hit by an ice based attack.
- Toxic Upgrade is exclusive to the Toxic Variants such as: Toxic Pea, Dr. Toxic, Toxic Brainz and Toxic Chomper. The Toxic Chomper’s aura of toxicity deals 2 to 5 damage every second depending on how close the enemy is to the Chomper on average, and the other Toxic Variants are similar in that department. They deal 2 toxic damage to an enemy hit by their attacks per second until 3 seconds after last being hit by a toxic based attack. The toxic effect spreads to other enemies, but the toxic upgrade increases the aura size/increases damage or duration of the toxic effect.
- Vampiric Upgrade is exclusive to Vampire Flower. Without the upgrade, she can heal herself from attacking zombies 3 HP on average, but with the vampiric upgrade she can heal 4 HP.
- Super Meter Upgrade is exclusive to Legendary Characters. The Iron Citron without upgrades takes 5 vanquishes to enter his Legendary Mode on average, but with the super meter upgrade, Legendary Characters require less vanquishes to enter their respective Legendary Modes (excluding Party Characters, since Shared Vanquishes now count towards Party Time).
- Homing Upgrade is exclusive to Rose. This upgrade improves the lock-on ability of Rose and her variants/follows enemies slightly faster.
- Damage Radius Upgrade is exclusive to Park Ranger, Alien Flower, and Toxic Citron. This upgrade increases the size of the lingering cloud to affect a larger area.
- Explosion Life Upgrade is exclusive to Park Ranger, Alien Flower, and Toxic Citron. This upgrade increases the duration of the lingering cloud.
- Overheat Upgrade is exclusive to All-Stars, Super Brainz, General Supremo, and Citrons as they will deal more damage before overheating.
- Overheat Penalty Upgrade is exclusive to All-Stars, Super Brainz, General Supremo, and Citrons as the cooldown time is reduced.
- Digestion Upgrade is exclusive to Chompers, as they will take less time to digest a zombie.
- Penetrate Upgrade is exclusive to Camo Cactus, Camo Ranger, Mob Cob and Captain Flameface. The Mob Cob can penetrate through zombies with the Corn Crusher, making shields in general useless, but the penetrate upgrade can increase the number of enemies each shot can penetrate through.
Primary weapon
The All-Star’s primary weapon is the minigun-like Football Cannon. It is capable of shooting footballs at a high rate, dealing 4-9 impact damage and 5-10 critical damage based on distance. Since the Football Cannon has unlimited ammo and never reloads, it can be fired for extended periods. However, firing it for too long will make the Football Cannon overheat and become momentarily unusable, putting the All-Star in a vulnerable state. It takes about one second for the All-Star to rev up the weapon before it can fire (which can be avoided by zooming in before you start firing), and takes another second for it to fully stop firing. Firing the Football Cannon also reduces the All-Star’s movement speed. These traits mean that the Football Cannon is not a weapon that you want to be caught out of position with.
Primary weapon
The primary weapon of the Rose is Magic Thistles. It is a fully automatic weapon that fires slow-moving projectiles that home in on targets, meaning the weapon does not require much aiming. The way the homing works is, as long as you have your crosshair on the target, your projectiles will home successfully. You can tell whether your shots will home or not by seeing whether the crosshair is red or white. If it is red, your shots will home. These projectiles don’t usually miss but can be obstructed by solid objects. It does 9 damage at all ranges and 10 if the damage upgrade is equipped. This weapon can be fired 20 times before it needs to be reloaded.
Strategies
With
Playing as the Scientist takes a bit of practice. You need to know when to retreat, when to heal yourself and your team, and when to attack. A good loadout for offensive scientist use is the Warp ability, the Armored Heal Station, and the Sticky Explody Ball. Try to keep an eye out for any flanks you can in the plants defenses. Doing so can catch the enemy off guard, disrupting whatever it is they were doing. Also try to have two Warps available on you before you try to attack. Use the first warp to get close to your target, and the second warp to flee if you need to. Heal. Repeat. Also be sure to heal any teammates you can. Useful healing abilities for the Scientist include the Mega Heal Bomb and the Zombie Heal Station.
Against
One of the key factors when engaging a Scientist is the range you engage them. Depending on the type of Scientist, be it an Astronaut or a Chemist, you will want to be either a long or medium distance from him. Since the Scientist and his variants achieve maximum damage at close range, you want to keep a good distance when engaging. Try not to let the Scientist get too close to you, as that is when he becomes a real threat.
Effective counters to the Scientist include the Cactus, the Citron, the Torchwood, the Peashooter and the Chomper.
Team Vanquish
In this mode, Scientists are vital to the team’s success, as they revive much faster than other zombies. Reviving a zombie subtracts a point from the other team, so because of this, the Scientist should try reviving every vanquished zombie he sees. The Scientist should try sticking their Sticky Explody balls onto zombies that get close to plants, like the All-Star. If the Scientist is in a combat situation, he should warp closer to the offending plant in order to get more damage. Scientists are easy prey for the Peashooter, as they move very quickly, and are hard to hit. Cacti are dangerous at long range but the Goo Blaster makes short work of them at close or mid range. This class is useful against Chomper, as Chompers need to get close to deal damage, the Scientist Zombie deals more damage than Chomper at close range, so they should take advantage of getting Gooped, and shoot down the carnivorous plant when they get close.
Gardens & Graveyards
The Scientist has two possible roles in this mode: being the zombie team’s Medic or a fast-moving close-range attacker. The Scientist’s high damage at close range makes it a good class for assaulting the garden since the plants have to stand within the garden’s capture zone to block the capture, which forces them to come close to you, allowing you to gun them down. Keep track of your teammates’ health and deploy Zombie Heal Stations near groups of injured zombies. If you wish to maximize your healing power, use the Mega Heal Bomb to provide healing more liberally. At longer ranges, the Scientist is highly vulnerable to the Cactus, Stay behind cover and use Warp to avoid the Cactus’ line of sight. Once you enter close range combat with the Cactus though, the Scientist can make short work of it. Peashooters are a little harder to deal with, they can use rooftops like the Foot Soldier to avoid close range combat while attacking you with their superior range and they have Hyper which allows them to, should they be forced into close range combat, avoid your shots while retaliating with their splash damage. Sunflowers are merely a nuisance at long range since their weapons suffer from a noticeable damage fall-off and at close range, their below-average attack power makes them weak at self-defense. It is at mid range where they are dangerous since if they can keep out at an arm’s length distance from themselves, they will be able to deal large amounts of damage to you while your weapon’s damage fall-off will play against you. Forcing plants into cramped corridors and tight spaces allows you to use your high close range power to gun them down almost regardless of their health.
Trivia
- Unlike all other plants, she never walks when she moves, but rather, she hovers while floating slightly above the ground.
- According to an image released by PopCap, she originates from the Dark Ages, a world from Plants vs. Zombies 2. Her ability to turn enemies into goats is similar to the Wizard Zombie of that world.
- She and Citron
She uses a magical wand to cast spells in combat.
, along with their variants, are the only plants to wield an actual weapon.
- When she dies, she dissolves and leaves behind an actual rose and an orb, depending on the variant. The orb generally is colored after the orb within the variant’s wand.
- Due to this, she and Torchwood
However, for a second while disintegrating, she can be seen falling and collapsing to the floor.
are the only characters whose character models are never seen in a ragdoll form.
- This makes her harder to see without a revival indicator. As such, Roses are the characters least likely to be revived.
- She has the longest death noise of all plants, as it takes almost two seconds for the entire death noise clip to finish.
- Due to this, she and Torchwood
- Her sound effect when she shot continuously was changed from an ascending tone to a descending tone in the Trials of Gnomus DLC
This also happened with Party Rose.
.
- While it may not seem like it, she moves at the same speed as the Sunflower and Scientist.
- Rose is the one of the only two new classes to not have two legendary variants. The other is Captain Deadbeard.
- Rose’s Weapon is named magic thistles. A pun magic missile a spell from DnD
Spawnable zombies
There are 17 Spawnable Zombies that can be used. To summon a zombie, look for grave dirt piles. The spawnable zombies are used as assistance to fight against the plants in Gardens & Graveyards. Each are considered consumables that once used can not be picked back up. Spawnable Zombies can only be obtained by purchasing sticker packs with in-game coins.

The game received mostly positive feedback from users and critics, despite the use of in-app purchases. Critics mostly praised the gameplay and graphics. It has a Metacritic score of 86/100 based on 36 reviews. PopCap Games announced at Gamescom on August 20, 2013, that the game had been downloaded 15 million times, making it the most successful EA mobile game launch.
Ten days later it was announced that the game had been downloaded 25 million times, exceeding the lifetime downloads of the first game. Apple chose Plants vs. Zombies 2 as a runner-up for 2013 iPhone game of the year. However, many people complain about the several microtransactions the game has, as well as having strange difficulty spikes throughout the adventure mode.
Early Sasquatch Hunt
The Sasquatch boss encountered in Boss Hunt was originally intended to appear in the story mode Boss Hunts. In older versions of the game, his hunt was playable on other maps, although quite unfinished. His original bait was a Soup Can, which has a model and icon. There is also text present for the unfinished hunt. When played in earlier versions, the Sasquatch will spawn, but players will be sent into a loop of his Healing Burgers phase after damaging him due to it being unfinished.

Trivia
- Engineer has a visible butt crack and is one of the four zombies in the whole series to have him showing it (excluding its variants except for the Welder and Landscaper), the other zombies are Barrel Zombie when his barrel breaks, the Gargantuar Zombie, and the DJ Zom-B in Plants vs. Zombies Adventures.
- He is very similar to the Engineer from Team Fortress 2, as they both can build teleporters, turrets/sentries which can be upgraded three times, wear hard hats and share the same name.
- Sometimes he says a garbled version of, «I’m gonna eat your brains!» when the player spawns as him.
- Upon spawning, he also may say other garbled lines including one referring to himself as an Engineer.
- The Zombot Turret used to be one of the Engineer’s abilities, but was replaced by the Zombot Drone.
- He makes a laughing noise when he builds a teleporter or building/upgrading a Zombot Turret.
- He bears a resemblance to Digger Zombies from the original game in structure.
- When the player builds a Zombot Turret, the name of the turret will be «‘s Zombie», even though it is a turret, this is no longer accurate in GW2.
- Engineer is the only playable zombie that does not start with his middle ability.
- Engineer has the least Super Rare character variants, having only two.
- There is a very rare glitch that only happens in the original Garden Warfare where if a Chomper
This also applies to the other Zombie classes.
swallows an Engineer, the Chomper will not get credit for vanquishing that Engineer. Also, the Engineer will reappear in a spot when the Chomper finishes and will appear near the plant.
- If the Engineer is using his Jackhammer ability and a Chomper attempts to swallow or Burrow him, the Chomper will only eat the Jackhammer and the Engineer will escape unharmed and gives him a chance to get away from or vanquish the Chomper, as long as he is not Gooped.
- In the first issue of the Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 prequel comic book, Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare, Dr. Zomboss repeatedly refers to the Engineer as «Gene Error,» suggesting his name is Gene
An engineer named «Gene Error» also appears in the Top Zombie quests to build various unsuccessful teleporters and a cannon, such as the ones at the bases in the Backyard Battleground.
.
- The Engineer is the only character class not to appear on the cover art of Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2
However, the Stinky Goat on the cover art may be the Engineer as a goat after being transformed into one by Rose’s Goatify ability.
.
- He no longer has facial hair in Garden Warfare 2, but he has it again in Battle for Neighborville.
- All of the Engineer’s variants (minus Roadie Z and the Sanitation Expert who is closer to a garbage-man) are based on skilled trades: welding, industrial painting, automotive mechanics, electric wiring, plumbing, landscaping, and air conditioning. One can argue that the Sanitation Expert might be associated with commercial cleaning based on his description.
Gravedigger
Gravedigger is an unused class which was an earlier attempt at Scientist. It had a shotgun and planted tombstones which were used as a shield and to raise AI zombies. It also had the Hand Grenade ability which was later considered for Scientist. One of the reasons for his removal was lack of ideas for variants of it. After being scrapped as a class it was planned to become a boss but was once again scrapped due to the developers liking the idea of Baron Von Bats more. Due to this Baron Von Bats is referred to as gravedigger in the files of Garden Warfare files. Its spotting icon and a placeholder Zomboss Slots icon were in the launch day build of Garden Warfare. It can be seen in both Garden Warfare and Garden Warfare 2 in easter eggs and as a zombie in Plants vs. Zombies 3.

Pup and Wolf
A Z-Mech that is also identified as a boss. It comes with its own Imp called Renegade Imp in the coding. It was originally intended to appear in story Boss Hunts. Its bait was the Cyber Jerky. It would have had 500 health and had 3 abilities:
- Cluster Cannons: Same effect as the Missile Madness of the regular Z-Mech, seems to home in a lot more.
- Smokey Motors: It would summon an airstrike the rains down 5 Zombie Stink Clouds.
- Gravity Missile: It would launch 5 Gravity Grenades at its target(s).

Super Chili Bean
Unused Variation of the Super Bean, in a similar fashion to Giga Gargantuar. It was originally intended to appear in story Boss Hunts similar to other bosses. Its bait was a bottle of hot sauce. Its attacks have red effects instead of blue effects. Has an icon as well. He has his own abilities as well, and they are:
- Chili Laserbean — A more powerful version of Super Bean’s Laserbean ability.
- Chili Teleport — A teleport ability, although it does not actually work due to the boss’ unfinished nature.
- Explosive Teleport — A teleport ability that also launches Chili Bean Bombs.
- Chili Warp — Its warp ability, similar to Super Bean’s warp ability.
- Chili Charge — Similar to Super Bean’s Overbean ability, except it does way more damage.
- Chili Twirl — Very unfinished, seems to do no damage at all.

Trivia
- Sometimes the game refers to his class as the «Superhero.»
- He is one of the two characters to have two primary weapons, depending on whether the player is holding the left trigger or not, the other being Captain Deadbeard.
- When he is shot out of a cannon, he holds up two fists as he «flies.» However, in Plants vs. Zombies Heroes, when Super Brainz uses «Carried Away,» he holds up one fist as he flies.
- His huge chin is an exaggerated reference to the fact that many male superheroes (ex. Batman) have such large chins.
- In the Garden Warfare Prequel Comic, he is, according to Rose
Though in real gameplay, he can be turned into a goat.
, too powerful to become a goat.
- He is one of four classes in the game to have two Legendary variants (Toxic Brainz and Party Brainz), the others being Citron (Iron Citron and Party Citron), Kernel Corn (Commando Corn and Party Corn) and Imp (Scallywag Imp and Party Imp).
- According to his stickerbook description, he was created in a lab, and the only purpose of his creation was to fight in the Battle of Zomburbia.
Plants
Peashooter
- The Chili Bean Bomb had a sombrero that looks exactly like the Sombrero Bean Bomb. The bean also had a much more higher pitched voice and took longer to explode.
- Hyper’s icon showed a Repeater at full speed. The Repeater’s look is from Plants vs. Zombies 2.
Chomper
- His zombie-eating length was shortened.
- Spawnable zombies actually attacked the Chomper as opposed to avoiding him.
- Goop’s icon was the same color as the projectile.
- Burrow had Chomper’s «fin» sticking out, making him look like a shark. Also when his «eating» animation was there, the «Dig Power» would continue to stay until he actually ate a zombie.
- He had 200 health.
Sunflower
- She had an unused ability where she would drop sunlight from her back. These sundrops would have healed Sunflower and other plants.
- Heal Beam looked noticeably much larger.
- Sunbeam was originally called «Void Ray» and Sunflower would have had a red glow on herself when using it.
- Heal Flower originally looked like Marigold, and would have had 2 uses, meaning you could plant 2 Heal Flowers.
Cactus
- She originally had 100 health.
