The UK & Ireland version of Boomerang’s promotional webpage and commercial for their 2011 Make it a My Little Pony Christmas competition both show in silhouette, with his flying sleigh pulled by Fluttershy and Twilight Sparkle on the webpage and by Princess Celestia in the commercial. Santa Claus was similarly an unseen character in previous generations of My Little Pony.

Live-action teenage girls portray the Mane Six, Sunset Shimmer, the Dazzlings, and other characters in various Equestria Girls, Rainbow Rocks, and Friendship Games promotional media and music videos.

An edited version of pre-Equestria Girls fanart of the Mane Six as humans was posted by the official European Spanish My Little Pony Facebook page on June 26, 2015.

In an Instagram Q&A, Grogar references stage magicians Penn and Teller, and Lord Tirek calls former wrestler-turned actor Dwayne «The Rock» Johnson one of his idols.

Development and name

The name «Philomena» is of Greek origin, meaning «powerful love». The name’s English spelling is Philomena, though on the show’s storyboard by Sabrina Alberghetti it shows up as «Philemena». One of Hasbro’s online coloring pages, a question on Hasbro’s My Little Pony page, and a tweet by Hasbro’s My Little Pony account spell the name «Philomeena». The 2012 My Little Pony use «Philomena» and list it as a trademark.

According to A Bird in the Hoof writer Charlotte Fullerton, Philomena was originally named Phoebe; this name would be used by for her human Phoebe and Her Unicorn character who appears in a picture on Phoenix Comics & Games (and Everfree Northwest) exclusive cover RE of .

In late June 2015, Jim Miller was asked «Will we see Philomena on the show ever again or is she stuck to Princess Celestia’s quarters?» and answered «Never say never. But no current plans to see her any time soon.»

In My Little Pony: A New Generation, Pipp appears as a princess of , pop singer, and social media celebrity. Sunny Starscout and Izzy Moonbow arrive in Zephyr Heights on the day of a royal celebration, during which Pipp is scheduled to debut a brand new song. When Sunny and Izzy are brought before Pipp and her mother and sister Zipp Storm, Pipp reveals their presence to the entire city through her social media. She later tells Sunny and Izzy that she and her royal family are the only Pegasi able to fly, though Zipp later reveals this to be false.

When the celebration gets underway, Pipp sings the song Glowin’ Up while performing an aerial routine on wires. During this, Sunny, Izzy, and Zipp try to steal the magical Pegasus Crystal from Queen Haven’s crown while avoiding Haven’s pet pomeranian and sheriff Hitch Trailblazer. Through Sunny, Izzy, and Zipp’s interference, Pipp’s wires and inability to fly are revealed to the audience, exposing her and her family as frauds.

After Haven is arrested and additional arrest warrants are put out for Pipp and Zipp, Pipp gives the Pegasus Crystal to Sunny and her friends and gets dragged into their quest to bring magic back to Equestria. Though she initially bears resentment toward Zipp and the others for causing her mother to be arrested and herself to be seen as a criminal, Pipp eventually comes to view them as friends and their quest as important.

Pipp and her friends acquire the Unicorn Crystal in , but nothing happens when it is joined together with the Pegasus Crystal. Sunny returns to Maretime Bay in failure and despair, but Pipp and the others follow out of a desire to stay friends with her. Upon arriving, they get swept up in Hitch’s deputy ‘s destructive plot to wage war against unicorns and Pegasi. After Sunny succeeds in bringing the three pony races together, Pipp and her new friends happily welcome a new age of friendship and magic.

Season one

Octavia Melody being bothered by Pinkie.

She plays a cello as part of a four-pony musical ensemble at the Grand Galloping Gala in the episode The Best Night Ever. She retains an apparently calm and dignified expression when in costume, except when Pinkie Pie disturbs her. At Pinkie’s request, the orchestra plays the Pony Pokey. Octavia Melody eventually falls over when Pinkie tries to make her play faster.

Season two

Octavia appears briefly in Sweet and Elite in the garden party scene, playing with a mostly different musical ensemble.

Season four

Octavia appears in Inspiration Manifestation, switched from by a cursed Rarity during a filly’s birthday party. In the episode Equestria Games, she is barely seen in the audience as Spike attempts to light the torch.

In Bloom & Gloom, in Sweetie Belle’s dream, Octavia, seated at a table with DJ Pon-3 and Rarity, watch Sweetie about to sing on stage, but Sweetie suddenly discovers a broom as a cutie mark, and her microphone is replaced with a broom. As a result, both Octavia and DJ-Pon-3 give Sweetie a score of «0», while Rarity gives her a score of «1».

Octavia has her first in-show speaking role in Slice of Life, in which she speaks with an upper-class British accent. In the episode, Octavia is revealed to be DJ Pon-3’s housemate, and the two compose an «electric cello dubstep» musical piece for Cranky Doodle Donkey and Matilda’s wedding. The credits name Octavia Melody as in (some) previous materials. She Fiddly Twang appears silhouetted playing the cello during The Magic Inside in The Mane Attraction. She and DJ Pon-3 appear during the final group shot in The Cutie Re-Mark — Part 2.

Season six

In On Your Marks, Octavia appears at the recital seated next to Lyra Heartstrings and Sweetie Drops.

In A Hearth’s Warming Tail, Octavia appears in the story within the story first as a street dweller, then as a musician at Snowdash’s party playing violin instead of cello alongside gramophone spinner DJ Pon-3. She also appears conducting a small choir during Hearth’s Warming Eve Is Here Once Again and as a guest during the Hearth’s Warming celebration at the Castle of Friendship during the reprise.

In 28 Pranks Later, Octavia takes part in a city-wide zombie-themed prank on Rainbow Dash. In The Fault in Our Cutie Marks, Octavia appears receiving help from Gabby during Find the Purpose in Your Life and later at Gabby’s cute-ceañera.

Season seven

In A Flurry of Emotions, Octavia appears at Spearhead’s art exhibit. In Parental Glideance, she appears in the crowd at the Wonderbolts showcase.

In The Perfect Pear, Octavia appears in the very beginning talking to Chelsea Porcelain. In It Isn’t the Mane Thing About You, she appears next to DJ Pon-3 at the Ponyville marketplace.

Season eight

Octavia appears at Maud Pie’s party in The Maud Couple, and she appears in Yakity-Sax walking through Ponyville and watching the Wonderbolts show.

Best Gift Ever

In My Little Pony Best Gift Ever, Octavia makes a cameo appearance playing her cello beside DJ Pon-3 in Ponyville Square during One More Day.

Season nine

In The Beginning of the End — Part 2, Octavia appears brainwashed by King Sombra and part of his raid of Canterlot Castle. In She’s All Yak, she appears in the reused image of The Cutie Re-Mark — Part 2 during Fit Right In.

In A Horse Shoe-In, Octavia applies for the position of vice headmare at the School of Friendship. She passes each stage of Starlight Glimmer’s candidate-interviewing process but eventually turns the job down due to conflicts with her music schedule. In The Big Mac Question, Discord mentions that Octavia went out on a date with Bulk Biceps.

In The Last Problem, Octavia briefly appears in Rainbow Dash’s group shot during The Magic of Friendship Grows.

Production and development

On July 20, 2013, an clip of this episode was shown at San Diego Comic-Con International. In the clip, Applejack/Mistress Mare-velous, Fluttershy/Saddle Rager, Pinkie Pie/Fili-Second, Rainbow Dash/Zapp, Rarity/Radiance, Spike/Hum Drum, Twilight Sparkle/Masked Matter-Horn, the Mane-iac, and more characters appear.

Marcel Duperreault, Todd Araki, Jason Fredrickson, and Adam McGhie won a 2014 Leo Award for their work on this episode for «Best Overall Sound in an Animation Program or Series».

This episode’s original cut was 32 minutes long, however 10 minutes of footage were removed due to time constraints.

A small part showing Pinkie in her Fili-Second costume reappears in Cakes for the Memories.

The scene when Fluttershy becomes angry and grows after Mane-iac harms a firefly reappears in Memnagerie.

Gummy appears frequently throughout Pinkie Pie and the Rockin’ Ponypalooza Party! He also appears briefly in chapter four of Ponyville Mysteries: The Tail of the Timberwolf. Penumbra Quill refers to him as Gummy Snap, but Pinkie still calls him Gummy.

В отличии от драконов имеют свой город Грифостоун, в котором есть инфраструктура. По своему характеру грифоны в основном заносчивы, от чего страдает сама инфраструктура их города. Грифоны без вредных черт характера являются большим исключением, такие как Габби. В основном они любят вставить острое словцо как Джильда или Галлус

Skeletal structure

Ponies’ bones are featured in several episodes, IDW comics, and merchandise.

In Read It and Weep, Doctor Horse X-rays Rainbow Dash’s broken wing. In Bloom & Gloom, Apple Bloom’s skeleton is briefly visible when she gets zapped by . In Scare Master, a decoration modeled after a unicorn skeleton is hung in a window in Ponyville, and Applejack discovers a skeleton dummy in a rocking chair dressed up to resemble Granny Smith. In Newbie Dash, Rainbow Dash’s skeleton is briefly visible when she gets struck by lightning. In Dungeons & Discords, the has an army of Earth pony, Pegasus, and unicorn skeletons, and unicorn Big McIntosh’s skeleton is briefly visible when he and Spike are zapped by the Squizard’s magic. In The Break Up Break Down, is introduced as a Level 18 Bone Warrior in Squizard’s mage army. In Father Knows Beast, Twilight Sparkle’s skeleton is briefly shown to indicate she is heartbroken.

In , Buck Withers’s skeleton is briefly visible when he gets zapped by a disco ball. In Annual 2014, two mummy minions’ skeletons are briefly visible when they get struck by ‘s lightning.
