Physiology

Tristana, a female Yordle

What differentiates yordles from other magical folk is that their physiology is more consistent between its members.

Yordles are sometimes sexually dimorphic and much shorter than humans; both sexes rarely exceed 1 meter tall, with most averaging between 0.5 and 0.8 meters. Their skin texture ranges from being lightly covered in fur, to moderately fuzzy, to ultimately being excessively bushy. Their hands have four digits while their feet differ greatly depending on the individual (from four to two digit feet). Their fur tones run a much broader spectrum of colors than their human counterparts; some consider this to be a sign of the yordles’ attunement to Runeterra’s magical nature; though scientists agree that this evolutionary trait is used by male Yordles (which tend to be more fuzzy) to attract females of their species (which tend to be lightly covered with fur). Their large eyes feature a large, circular iris with a vertically oval pupil, and they generally have inferior vision in the normal spectrum of light than humans. Yordles nevertheless have much better hearing, due to their large fox-like ears and are able to see into the infrared spectrum of light, whereas humans cannot. Furthermore, they are commonly characterized by their dependence on language, as well as their creation and utilization of complex tools.

Yordles do not age in the same way as beings of the material realm do thanks to being creatures of the spirit realm. Poppy was already alive and independent when she befriended Orlon, on his way west to establish a new, fledgling nation to be eventually called Demacia about 1000 years ago. Fizz and Gnar are far more ancient, though their survival may be due to hibernation.

The yordle race have shown the possibility to be amphibious, such example would be Fizz, though it is unknown whether it is his original form or one of his choosing.

Yordles can somewhat be considered spirits due to being native to the spirit realms. They don’t need to breathe.

Due to their physiology, yordles are vulnerable to being imprisoned inside cages made of Runic Iron. Touching Runic Iron gives yordles an electrical-like shock, and will disrupt their magic.

Glamour

  • Not Always As They Seem…
  • Heimerdinger’s Visual Transmogrification

1/2

In less enlightened parts of the world, a yordle’s appearance could seem frightening or unnatural to mortals. Fortunately, they are adept at blending in, and often protected by a kind of supernatural glamour—subconsciously fading from the viewer’s notice, or being masked as a less remarkable individual.

Yordles do not necessarily control their glamour, and may understand it in a variety of ways. The revered inventor Heimerdinger, for example, crafted unique technological devices for himself and Ziggs, to help them blend into Piltovan society. However, some humans are able to break this charm due to their more perceptive nature.

Counter Strike.

Abilities

Petricite Burst

Innate: Sylas gains an Unshackled stack for 4 seconds whenever he casts an ability, refreshing on subsequent ability casts. Sylas can have up to 3 Unshackled stacks at a time, and while he has stacks, he gains  125% bonus attack speed.

Unshackled: Sylas’ next basic attack consumes an Unshackled stack to whirl his chains around him, having an , dealing 130% AD (+ 25% AP) magic damage to the primary target and 40% AD (+ 20% AP) magic damage to nearby secondary targets.

Damage to secondary targets executes minions that are left or are below 25 health.

The empowered attack applies on-hit effects to the primary target but disables Sylas’ critical strikes’ bonus damage. Spell effects only apply to secondary targets.

  • damage does not get converted to magic damage, and will deal its damage only to the primary target.
  • Petricite Burst attacks do not add stacks of Press the Attack to the target.
  • Petricite Burst attacks do not apply  life steal.
  • Petricite Burst attacks can critically strike, but deal no increased damage when they do.
  • Petricite Burst can be , , or missed while Sylas is blinded as the primary target but not as a secondary target.

Chain Lash

Active: Sylas lashes out two chains that converge to the target location and extend beyond it up to a maximum range, dealing magic damage to enemies within the area and slowing them for 1.5 seconds.

Magic Damage:
40 / 60 / 80 / 100 / 120 (+ 40% AP)
Slow:
15 / 20 / 25 / 30 / 35%

After a 0.6-second delay, the chains’ intersection detonates, dealing magic damage to enemies within, reduced by 60% against minions and monsters.

Detonation Damage:
70 / 125 / 180 / 235 / 290 (+ 90% AP)
Non-Champion Detonation Damage:
28 / 50 / 72 / 94 / 116 (+ 36% AP)
Maximum Champion Damage:
110 / 185 / 260 / 335 / 410 (+ 130% AP)
Maximum Non-Champion Damage:
68 / 110 / 152 / 194 / 236 (+ 76% AP)

Kingslayer

Active: Sylas dashes to the front of the target enemy’s location and, upon arrival, he strikes them to deal magic damage.

Magic Damage:
70 / 105 / 140 / 175 / 210 (+ 90% AP)

If Kingslayer damaged an enemy champion, Sylas is also healed, increased by 0% − 100% (based on Sylas’ missing health).

Heal:
25 / 50 / 75 / 100 / 125 (+ 40% AP)
Maximum Heal:
50 / 100 / 150 / 200 / 250 (+ 80% AP)
  • The damage will be dealt if the dash completed uninterrupted, and regardless of how far the target’s location is at the end of the dash.
    • Sylas will heal even if the target champion dies before the dash is completed.
    • The only exception is if the target becomes untargetable, in which case Kingslayer will have no effect.
  • Despite being single target, Kingslayer does not draw minion aggro.(bug)

Abscond

Active: Sylas dashes to the target location.

For the next 3.5 seconds, Sylas may cast after a 0.2-second delay from casting Abscond.

Abduct

Active: Sylas whips out his chains in the target direction, dealing magic damage to the first enemy hit, stunning them for 0.5 seconds, pulling himself towards their location, and knocking them up for 0.5 seconds upon arrival.

Magic Damage:
80 / 130 / 180 / 230 / 280 (+ 100% AP)

Sylas may still move, basic attack and cast or before the chains reach his target.

Bloodharbor Ripper

As a youth, Pyke started out like many in Bilgewater: on the slaughter docks. All day, every day, monstrous creatures of the deep were hauled in for rendering in the butcheries that lined the waterfront. He found employment in a district known as Bloodharbor, as even the tide itself was not strong enough to wash away the red slick that ran constantly down its wooden slips.

He became well acquainted with the trade—both the gruesome work and meager paychecks. Over and over, Pyke watched heavy purses of gold being handed to captains and crews in exchange for the daunting carcasses that he and his fellows would hack into salable chunks. He became hungry for more than a few copper sprats in his pocket, and managed to talk his way onto a ship’s crew. Few individuals dared to hunt in the traditional Serpent Isles manner: launching themselves at their targets to secure tow-hooks with their bare hands, and beginning to butcher the creatures while they yet lived. Fearless and highly skilled in this regard, Pyke soon cut a name for himself as the best harpooner a golden kraken could buy. He knew meat was worth pennies compared to certain organs from the larger, more dangerous beasts… organs that needed to be harvested fresh.

Depending on the difficulty of the hunt, each sea monster commanded its own price, and the most desired by Bilgewater traders was the jaull-fish. From its razor-toothed maw, priceless sacs of sapphilite were coveted across Runeterra for various sorcerous distillations, and a small flask of the glowing blue oil could pay for a ship and its crew ten times over. But it was while hunting with an untested captain that Pyke learned where a life of blood and guts would land him.

Days into their journey, a huge jaull-fish breached, opening its maw wide to reveal rows of sapphilite sacs. Several harpoon lines secured the beast, and though it was far bigger and older than any he had encountered before, Pyke leapt into its mouth without hesitation.

As he set about his work, a deep vibration began to stir in the creature’s cavernous gullet. Roiling bubbles broke the ocean’s surface, and an entire pod of jaulls began to push against the tethered ship’s hull. The captain lost his nerve, and cut Pyke’s lifeline. The last thing the doomed harpooner saw before the beast’s jaws snapped shut was the look of horror on his crewmates’ faces, as they watched him being swallowed alive.

But this was not the end for Pyke.

In the deepest fathoms of the unknowable ocean, crushed by the titanic pressure, and still firmly trapped within the jaull’s mouth, he opened his eyes once more. There were blue lights everywhere, thousands of them, seemingly watching him. Tremulous echoes of something ancient and mysterious filled his brain, crushing his mind, showing him visions of all he had lost whilst others grew fat.

A new hunger overtook Pyke, one for vengeance and retribution. He would fill the depths with the corpses of those who had wronged him.

Back in Bilgewater, no one thought much of the killings at first—for so dangerous a place, the occasional red tide was nothing new. But weeks became months, and a pattern began to emerge. Captains from many ships were found carved up and left out for the dawn. Bar-room patrons whispered it was a supernatural killer, wronged at sea, gutting his way through the crew manifest of some damned ship called the Terror. Once a mark of respect and celebrity, the question “You a captain?” became a cause for alarm.

Soon it was the caulkers, too, and the first mates, merchant officers, bankers… indeed, anyone associated with the bloody business of the slaughter docks. A new name went up on the bounty boards: a thousand krakens for the infamous Bloodharbor Ripper.

Driven by memories twisted by the deep, Pyke has succeeded where many have failed—striking fear into the hearts of unscrupulous businessmen, killers, and seafaring scoundrels alike, even though no one can find any mention of a ship named the Terror ever docking in Bilgewater.

A city that prides itself on hunting monsters now finds a monster hunting them, and Pyke has no intention of stopping.

Piltover Enforcer

Vi remembers little of her childhood in Zaun, and what she does remember, she wishes she didn’t. Running with the sump-snipe gangs, she quickly learned to use her wits, as well as her fists, to survive. Everyone who encountered Vi knew she could talk—or punch—her way out of trouble. More often than not, she chose the latter.

None of the old-timers from her youth could tell her anything of her parents. Most assumed they had died in one of the industrial accidents that were, sadly, all too common in the undercity. Though she had ended up in the crumbling Hope House orphanage, a notoriously mad sump-scrapper claimed to have found her adrift in a bassinet large enough for two in the ruins of a collapsed chem-lab. In the end, Vi figured some things were best left unknown.

With her wild pink hair, she became a distinctive sight on the streets of Zaun—hightailing from angry shopkeepers in the boundary markets, swaggering through the colorful bazaars of the Black Lanes, or hitching rides up into Piltover aboard the hexdraulic conveyors. Wherever there was a scrape to be gotten into or a scam to be run, Vi was in the thick of it, though she never stole from those that couldn’t cover the loss… and never hurt those that didn’t deserve it.

As she got older, the capers of childhood became more audacious and daring, and Vi formed a gang of her own. Brash and quick to anger, she still relied on her fists a little too much, and was rarely without a black eye or split lip.

She found a mentor in the owner of a bar on the edge of the Lanes, who tempered some of her more self-destructive tendencies. He tried to reinforce her moral code, and showed her how to fight with discipline, as well as teaching her ways to better direct her simmering anger.

In time, Vi earned a reputation as someone who got things done, no questions asked.

Listening to the chatter of the Zaunite miners who frequented the bar, she came to learn when big deals were being made, and how payments were to be delivered. To a chem-baron, this was chump change—but to her and her friends, it would be a fortune. She planned a heist, but knew it would require extra bodies to pull off, so Vi reluctantly brought a rival gang, the Factorywood Fiends, in on her score.

Everything was going fine, until the leader of the Fiends killed the mine owner with a pair of oversized pulverizer gauntlets, and trapped the rest of the workers in the tunnels. Even as both gangs fled with the loot, Vi knew she could not leave these innocent people to die. She snatched up the gauntlets, the wrist mechanisms clamping down painfully on her arms, but she endured the agony long enough to smash open a path to free the miners.

The following day, Vi paid a visit to the Factorywood Fiends. Still wearing the powered gauntlets, she took on the entire gang, administering a beating so legendary that it is still spoken of in the Lanes to this day.

Vi eventually disappeared from Zaun during a time of great upheaval, when tensions with Piltover were running high. Rumors circulated between the gangs that she had been killed in a huge explosion in the heart of the undercity, or that she had turned her back on her friends and struck out for distant lands. The truth, however, finally came to light when Old Hungry’s Scars—a vicious gang whose murder sprees had spread topside—were brought down by a respected sheriff of Piltover and her new ally… Vi.

The former gang leader was now in the employ of the Wardens, and she had replaced the chem-powered pulverizer gauntlets with a pair of brand new hextech Atlas prototypes.

No one yet knows the exact reason why or how Vi came to be working alongside Caitlyn—but given the anarchic nature of the crime wave now sweeping Piltover, speculation runs rife that it might involve a certain blue-haired hellion from Zaun…

Abilities

Break the Mold

Innate: Rell’s basic attacks deal 8 − 16 (based on level) bonus magic damage and reduce the target’s  armor and  magic resistance by 10% for 4 seconds, refreshing on subsequent attacks against them. Basic attacks against enemy champions will refresh the duration for all nearby afflicted enemies.

Rell gains  bonus armor and  bonus magic resistance equal to the sum of the resistances reduced from all afflicted enemies, respectively, and Break the Mold’s bonus damage is increased equal to the sum of the resistances reduced from the target.

Break the Mold will reduce the target’s armor and magic resistance by a minimum of 5 − 12 (based on level), or 0.5 / 1.25 / 2 (based on level) versus minions.

Rell’s is reduced「 by 0% − 7.14% (based on level). 」「 to 42% − 39% (based on level). 」

  • The resistances are stolen after the damage from the triggering attack is calculated, meaning only subsequent attacks will benefit from the reduction.
  • Rell’s buff accumulates enemies with Break the Mold’s debuff and she will consequently lose a portion of the bonus resistances gained as afflicted enemies die. This is contrary to other effects described as «thefts» (e.g. and ) that are implemented by granting a buff to the caster that is proportionate, though independent, to the debuff applied to the target (i.e. in those instances, each persists for the full duration regardless).

Shattering Strike

Active: Rell thrusts her lance in the target direction, completely destroying damage-mitigating shields of enemies hit before dealing them magic damage, reduced to 50% against enemies beyond the first. The first enemy hit is also afflicted with .

Magic Damage:
70 / 105 / 140 / 175 / 210 (+ 50% AP)
Secondary Damage:
35 / 52.5 / 70 / 87.5 / 105 (+ 25% AP)

If Rell is tethered with , she and the bound ally heal for each enemy champion hit.

Heal Per Champion:
10 / 15 / 20 / 25 / 30 (+ 30% AP) (+ 5% of missing health)
  • Shattering Strike will cast from wherever Rell is at the end of the cast time.
  • Rell is of moving, attacking, and casting any other ability except for 0.35 seconds after Shattering Strike

Casting Attract and Repel will cancel Shattering Strike. The ability will not go on cooldown but will still expend mana.(bug)

    is cast.

  • Shattering Strike, while binded to an ally, will grant the heal from hitting as well.

Ferromancy: Crash Down

Passive: While mounted, Rell gains 5% − 15% (based on level)  bonus movement speed, which is only 20% − 40% (based on level) as effective for 3 seconds when she takes damage from non- minions and is removed for 4 seconds when she becomes .

Active: Rell leaps to the target location over the cast time, transforming her mount into durable armor and upon landing dealing magic damage to nearby enemies and knocking them up for 1 second. Rell keeps sliding forward another 300 units over 0.5 seconds, though not through terrain, affecting further enemies along her path.

Magic Damage:
70 / 105 / 140 / 175 / 210 (+ 60% AP)

While dismounted, she gains the ability to cast . Rell will automatically mount up without casting upon completing a Recall channel.

This ability can only be cast while mounted. Rell can cast and during the leap, and is not considered to be dismounted until after the leap ends.

Shield:
40 / 70 / 100 / 130 / 160 (+ 13% of maximum health)

Increased Movement Speed:
25 / 30 / 35 / 40 / 45%

Rell’s next basic attack during this time gains  100 bonus attack range and consumes the bonus movement speed to have a 0.2-second cast time during which she charges at the target’s location. At the end of the dash or upon premature collision, she deals them bonus magic damage, stuns them for 1 second, and flings them 150 units over herself.
