Tekken x street fighter

Promotions and Demotions

Tekken provides a variety of chances to the player to step up their ranks. Winning matches consecutively, is the most profound way to promoted. Whenever a player is about to lose their rank, winning a match with a demotion chance, keeps their rank the same, otherwise the player is demoted. The player can always win a few battles to get promoted again.

Tekken 7 offers a Rank Bar. This tells players how close they are to ranks, and this bar grows or shrinks depending on how many battles the player wins or loses in Treasure Battle and Online.

The ranking bar is also helpful to players, telling them if they need to step up their game if the bar shrinks below halfway. If it goes over halfway, then players can keep playing in the style they are in; beginner or advanced.

Trivia

  • Jin, along with Marduk and Guile, is the only character to say profanity in the game. His victory quote against Asuka is «I don’t have time to listen to your bullsh*t».
  • Jin’s behavior and personality is a stark contrast to his normal game counterpart as seen in his pre-fights and win quotes with Xiaoyu over the course of the game. His behavior however is similar to Sasuke Uchiha from the Naruto anime series. This behavior however is also present in his appearance from another crossover game, Project X Zone.
  • His default fighting stance was his Tekken 5 CG pose and after executing most of his moves, he will be seen in his original fighting stance to his normal game counterpart before switching back to his default stance.
  • He and Kazuya’s karate belts are longer from the knee. In their normal game counterparts, their belts are below the knee.
  • In most trailers, Jin is seen in his CEO outfit (minus the trenchcoat) fighting against M. Bison. Later on, he makes an unlikely alliance with his father Kazuya against him.
  • He is the first character to have projectiles in the game the others are Steve, his bodyguard, Nina and later his android, Alisa.
  • When teaming up with Ryu after beating the first stage. Ryu was impressed to his sharp moves as Jin states that he wants to serve him in the Zaibatsu to join him as seen in their victory quotes.
    • Interestingly, some of Jin’s basic attacks are based on Ryu’s basic attacks and his «Shun Masatsu» move is also based on Ryu’s unique attack but slow to execute. His blocking pose also resembles Ryu’s when he blocks the opponents’ moves.
    • When Jin teams up with fellow Tekken characters or from Street Fighter characters, his pre-battle pose resembles Ryu’s pre-battle pose during their pre-fight with his tag partner Ken Masters.
    • He also shares similarities and often compared to Ryu due to their roles as the main protagonists with their respective games and being suffered from their evil beings such as his Devil Gene (In Ryu’s case, The Satsui no Hado). He later changes his role as an «anti-hero» in Tekken 6 and onwards making him as the complete opposite to Ryu.
    • During the mid-boss fight when playing as Ryu and Ken against Jin and Xiaoyu in their Pandora’s state. Both Ryu and Jin shoot their projectiles as both were equally hit from Ryu’s «Hadoken» and Jin’s «Penetrating Fist» respectively from their first attack.
  • Some of Jin’s moves has minor changes to his arsenal as his «Median Line Destruction» is based on the movie «Tekken: Blood Vengeance» where he pummels his grandfather, Heihachi before knocking him outside the castle. His «Over the Shoulder Reverse» and «Tidal Wave» throws became fast to execute rather slow his «Right-Roundhouse Punch however becomes a strong version of his «Demon’s Paw» rather his uppercut and his «Spinning Flare Kick and L.L.R.K to Spinning Flare Kick» is based on his appearance in «Devil Within» as he stands up after execution rather than lying down.
  • Jin’s «Penetrating Fist» appears to be very tricky against his opponents as seen when his opponents are getting close or behind from his projectile and gets hit from it. This makes it as his strategic move against them.
  • His cross-art was «Avenger» his unblockable move where he punches his opponent first using Thrusting Uppercut and several punches in reversal and pass to his partner by knocking him/her down with one powerful punch.
  • Both Ibuki and Poison are attracted to him in their victory quotes when he was against them. Jin’s victory quote however against Poison was to show his rudeness towards her despite her gender is a transexual as he says «Didn’t you think you would be shown no mercy because you’re a woman? You don’t know me very well, do you?».

Особенности Теккена[править]

В результате геймеры-файтеры всего мира признают лучшим трёхмерным файтингом двухтысячных именно Теккен. И вполне заслуженно, ведь:

  • Теккен имел простейшую боевую систему:
    • 4 кнопки, по одной под каждую конечность;
    • очень простые в исполнении удары и спецудары (практически отсутствовали «прокручивания» aka «ротации» как в SF);
    • ядрёные комбо (для лупцевания противника оными не требовалось подходить в упор, как в МК).

Trivia[]

  • Yoshimitsu is the only character in the game who is voiced only in Japanese. Every other character is voiced in both English and Japanese, with some exceptions like Cole who is only voiced in English, or King, who is not voiced at all.
  • In the game, Yoshimitsu talks like Yoda from Star Wars in his win quotes to characters.
  • Yoshimitsu’s primary outfit for this game is his Tekken 3 incarnation.
  • The Demonic Sword that Yoshimitsu hold seems to be calling out to the Satsui no Hado in Ryu and Ingrid’s power, as he states to Ryu that his sword is calling out to his power, he also wonders why his sword is responding to so much dark energy from the South Pole where the Box is located.

Development[]

Prior to tournament EVO 2010 at Las Vegas, Nevada, Street Fighter producer Yoshinori Ono was teasing a yet to be announced game which was initially believed to be a new Darkstalkers entry. Before EVO 2010’s Super Street Fighter IV finals, Ono was confronted by Tekken producer Katsuhiro Harada on stage after teasing more of the game that would officially be announced at the 2010 Comic-Con. During the Super Street Fighter IV panel at Comic-Con, Harada appeared out of the crowd and went towards the stage while handing out free copies of Tekken 6, which was met with cheers and boos. Ono and Harada then confirmed the existence of Street Fighter × Tekken. Both the teaser trailer and early gaming footage of Street Fighter × Tekken was also shown at Comic-Con. During the announcement, Harada also revealed that he has a related project under way, which is being developed by Namco and which the gameplay will be similar to that of Tekken. Other Capcom games are referenced in Street Fighter × Tekken, such as Dino Crisis, which has a stage based around one of its levels.

The PC port of Street Fighter × Tekken was developed by Polish studio QLoc. A portable version of the game was announced for the PlayStation Vita at the Electronic Entertainment Expo 2011. Downloadable content is cross-compatible between both the PlayStation 3 and Vita versions of the game.

Nathan Drake from Naughty Dog’s Uncharted series was considered for inclusion as a guest character, but the idea was scrapped during development. Yoshinori Ono stated that there is no exclusive character for the Xbox 360 version, stating: «We do have the exclusive characters for the Sony platform. We have Cole, the two Sony cats, Kuro and Toro. But basically for the Xbox 360, we were in discussions with them (Microsoft) for which character to put in as an exclusive, but we weren’t able to decide on a character because of differences in timing and things like that«.

Music

The music featured in cinematic trailers included «Honest Eyes» by Black Tide, «Knock Me Out» by Street Drum Corps, «In Love With You» by Jared Evan, «My Town» by Hollywood Undead, and «From Heads Unworthy» by Rise Against.

History and gender controversy[]

Poison’s first appearance in Final Fight featured her and a palette swap character named Roxy as recurring minor enemies for the player to fight. Named after the band by an unnamed female employee at Capcom, she was designed by Akira Yasuda to contrast against the bigger characters in the game and move about randomly. According to the book All About Capcom Head to Head Fighting Games, the characters were originally planned to be cisgender women, but it was believed they were changed to transgender women due to the suggestion that «hitting women was considered rude» in America and the concern that feminist groups would sue. However, Poison’s original concept artwork already referred to her as a «newhalf», meaning that she was never intended to be cis.

A later appearance by Poison as playable character in Final Fight Revenge, an American-produced 3D fighting game spinoff of Final Fight, portrayed the character in a highly feminine manner and had her romantically interested in Final Fight hero Cody. Commentary about her ending in the game in All About Capcom suggested that the character may have received a sex change. The Final Fight-related character profiles featured in the 2005 compilation Capcom Classics Collection acknowledges Poison’s transgender characterization.

The discrepancy regarding Poison has been addressed more than once in interviews with former and current Capcom employees. Final Fight developer and founder Akira Nishitani stated he supposed the character could be male but added it was up to the viewer to decide. Street Fighter IV’s producer Yoshinori Ono, when asked in an interview about the matter, stated «Let’s set the record straight: in North America, Poison is officially a post-op transsexual. But in Japan, he simply tucks his business away to look female.» He later emphasized it again when asked about what female characters could be included in the game Street Fighter IV, stating that it would be too confusing to include her due to the region-specific gender.

Also, in early developements of Street Fighter X Tekken, footage was shown of Ryu and Chun-Li’s win quotes to Poison. Ryu said, «Your looks really can be deceiving. I’ll be careful not to fall into your trap.» Chun-Li then said, «You’re not very lady-like at all! I felt like I was fighting against a guy.» After the footage was shown, LGBT rights groups contacted Capcom about Ryu and Chun-Li’s win quotes to Poison, stating that it was really offensive to them and many other LGBT members. Capcom then changed Ryu and Chun-Li’s win quotes to not revolve around Poison’s gender.

Gameplay[]

«It’s a little too early for you to be on your back already.«
—Poison

Poison’s fighting style consists of acrobatic flips, grabs, slaps, violent whip attacks and dirty tactics. Her gameplay in SFxTK is mostly based on her footsies and zoning, and she can mix-up her opponent fairly well.

Poison also has two unique attacks. The first being an elbow drop, where it hits overhead and can be comboed into. The second is a backflip that goes back pretty far and can be used to evade attacks or to get out of a bad situation.

Story

Background

A student of Tae Kwon Do who works out at Baek Doo San’s dojo, Hwoarang makes a lot of money through dishonest gambling wagers. As part of what’s called a fraud team, he and other members pick fights for money. They manipulate the odds by concealing their true strength. Hwoarang escalates the odds against him and makes what appears to be a foolish wager. His opponents soon realize they’re the real fools when Hwoarang soundly beats each and every one of them.

Tekken 3

One day, members of the Mishima Group came to town, including among them Jin Kazama. Hwoarang talks them into his game and is matched against Jin. Hwoarang embarrassingly can only manage a draw. He hangs his head in disbelief at the first blemish in his perfect career. Sickened at the thought of having to tell his teacher, Baek, the bad news, Hwoarang vows to practice every day to guarantee that it would never happen again. Then, terrible news — Ogre claims Baek as yet another victim. Hwoarang now has a purpose in life. He will participate in the tournament, beat Jin Kazama and seek revenge against the God of Fighting: Ogre.

Tekken 4

Hwoarang was drafted into the South Korean millitary and was assigned to a special operations division. Although his successes in various missions were highly regarded along with his prowess in combat, his penchant for disobeying rules and orders gave his senior officers more than a few headaches. Hwoarang was uninterested in military life and felt a strange emptiness within him. One day, Hwoarang found out about the announcement of the next Tournament. Filled with excitement he hasn’t felt in years, Hwoarang slipped out from the military base and headed for the Tournament.

Tekken 5

The South Korean Army took Hwoarang into custody during the last round of the King of Iron Fist Tournament 4, keeping him from his long-awaited fight with Jin Kazama. Hwoarang was taken to the South Korean embassy, where he was brought before the ambassador. He received an official pardon granting him immunity from charges related to the incident, and also received urgent military papers. Two months later, Hwoarang finishes his military service. With nothing holding him back, Hwoarang is free to pursue a confrontation with Jin Kazama.

Tekken 6

During the tournament, Hwoarang defeated Jin. While lying on the ground, Jin transformed into his devil form. Hwoarang was unable to fight back, and was soon beaten. Hwoarang woke up in the hospital with Baek standing as a visitor. Hwoarang hears the details from Baek. Ignoring his nurse, he tries to move from his bed and falls down, asking Baek to make him stronger. After leaving the hospital, Hwoarang starts training with unprecedented devoutness in order to defeat the «paranormal» Jin. Thus, with the announcement of The King of Iron Fist Tournament 6, he prepares for the tournament.

Biography[]

As the mysterious head of the Manij clan, Yoshimitsu steals from evil companies and spreads their wealth to the poor. Although he has a serious temperament, he also shows flashes of stupidity.

Appearance

Yoshimitsu wears a full bodied grey armor with red parts designed to look like exposed muscle tissue, as well as back armor that resembles a spine. Discarding the masks, he wears a menacing helmet with the appearance of a skeletal demon. His gauntlets are black and his hakama tucked into his greaves, although it is dark green with gold decorations. His CGI model in cutscenes and art for this game contains some slight revisions to the outfit, suggesting that the in-game model is a slightly earlier, less elaborate draft.

His sword is curved and looks more like a tachi than a katana. It doesn’t have a handguard and glows with a green aura, indicating its now-apparent magical properties. The hilt is a greyish-blue color.

Personality

Yoshimitsu is a noble, humble, honorable and proud ninja who respects life and compassion from all of humanity, he is also a very wise leader of the Majin Clan and hates injustice and dishonorable warriors who attack the weak, he also enjoys fighting with honorable warriors to test his might and their own. He is also a very friendly to those, and will even help those in need of saving and danger.

Bio[]

In a flash, Cole became a man with the power to wield electricity.
Able to fire electric-based attacks from his hands, this hero is shrouded in a tempest of electricity, and can mow down anyone who opposes him.

Appearance

Cole wears a simple black and yellow t-shirt, paired with black cargo pants that has a white Union Jack design on its right leg, this time spanning his entire leg. Cole has a simple brown/orange backpack where his melee weapon (the Amp) is being kept on a strap attached to his bag. Cole also has tattoos on his arms, that change corresponding to his Karmic state. Cole also has a scar on the right side of his face some time after dealing with Kessler, and wears sports shoes (‘tabi boots’) specifically for parkour.

Personality

Cole is a confident young man who takes on most challenges without a second thought. He is sarcastic, laid back yet adventures, quick tempered, rebellious and fearless. Many of his choices are dependent on the player in the inFAMOUS games, but in the canon story line, he is a heroic defender who helps out when he can, and is very selfless. He’s rough around the edges, but a loyal comrade.

Trivia[]

  • Cole’s self in this game is his Neutral self.
  • Cole is the only character in the game who is voiced only in English. Every other character is voiced in both English and Japanese, with some exceptions like Yoshimitsu who is only voiced in Japanese, or Ogre, who is not voiced at all, much like the other animal voice characters like King and Kuma

However, he does have a Japanese voice actor outside this game, as to why Capcom didn’t have his Japanese voice actor in the game remained unknown.

    , due to alien language.

  • Cole, Toro and Kuro are the only characters that have no story, as they are unplayable in Arcade Mode.
  • Cole is the only PS3 exclusive character that does not have a special theme music.
  • When Cole enters into Pandora Mode, he will glow bright red instead of purple. This is a homage to inFAMOUS’s Karma system, where Cole’s lightning powers will glow blue if he does heroic things, otherwise it’ll glow red if does evil deeds. He even yells «Karmic Overload» after activating it. Karmic Overload is a power in InFamous

It could be implied that Cole becomes his evil counterpart if he uses Pandora, since his electrical attacks become red and since he is willing to sacrifice his partner in order to win the battle.

that gives Cole unlimited energy for a short time.

  • Most of Cole’s powers appear from inFamous 2, though the Lightning Hook wasn’t a power normally available to Cole in the game. It was a DLC power.
  • Cole, like a few other Street Fighter characters, hasn’t had any formal training in fighting.
  • Cole’s win quote against Blanka

Sakura’s win quote against Cole has her wondering if he lived in the jungle, since that’s how Blanka acquired his electrical powers.

has him wondering if Blanka was affected by the Ray Sphere, the device which gave Cole his powers, considering both can use electricity.

  • Cole’s win quote against Dhalsim has him stating that he could use fire, which was one of two new elements that Cole could control in inFamous 2, while in his Evil Karma state.
  • Cole’s Good self appears as his alternate color scheme, and he can be customized to make him look like his Evil self from inFamous 2.
  • It is unknown in which side Cole is supposed to be, Street Fighter or Tekken. In the character select screen, Street Fighter portraits have blue borders, Tekken portraits have red borders, but Cole’s portrait is grey. When activating Cross Assault as Cole, it will always play the Street Fighter/Tekken Cross Assault music regardless of which side his partner is from, and the Street Fighter/Tekken victory music is always played when he wins. However, in Trial mode, Ryu appears as his dummy.
  • Cole also appears in another crossover game called PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale.
