Saints Row 2 — игра студии Volition, Inc и THQ в жанре экшен с элементами гонок и аркады, выпущенная в 2008 году, продолжение игры Saints Row 2 2006 года.

Игровой процесс скопирован с серии игр Grand Theft Auto. В отличие от игр серии GTA, главный герой — это не определённый человек, а свободно настраиваемый, то есть по ходу игры можете изменить пол, расу, телосложение, внешность героя в специальной пластической хирургии. По ходу игры можно купить тот или иной магазин, который будет приносить прибыль (забрать её можно будет в жилище). Saints Row starts in the year with an unnamed character in the fictional island City of Stilwater, based on cities such as Detroit and Chicago[reference?], in the middle of a gang war between several gang factions. Though he attempts to maintain distance, members from one gang attempt to gun him down; however, the 3rd Street Saints, led by Julius Little, step in and save him. After proving himself to the Saints, he’s initiated into the gang and then asked to assist to take over the city from three rival gangs: Los Carnales, Westside Rollerz, and the Vice Kings. Over the course of the game, Playa assists in various offensive and defensive actions against each rival gang, slowly bringing the entire city under control by the Saints.

Because of the three different gangs, there are three linear plots that deal with the conquest of each gang, though events in one plot do not affect any of the other plots. At the end of the game each rival gang has been defeated, and all of Stilwater is under the Saints’ control.

The game has a false ending showing Playa receiving a call from Julius, who says he he is making him his new right hand man. However, he implies that he is about to be pulled over by police. At this point, other members of the Saints ask Playa for their orders.

After the credits roll, three more «epilogue» missions are unlocked in linear order. The Saints are contacted by the corrupt chief of police who demands that they assassinate the mayor of Stilwater in return for Julius’ release. Once the mayor is dead, however, the police chief goes back on his word, and the Saints kill him in retribution.Playa is then invited to the private yacht of Alderman Richard Hughes, the only other candidate in the upcoming mayoral election. He thanks Playa for eradicating his political rival and announces his plans to use his mayoral power to destroy the Saints. During his speech, scenes of several Saints members after the events of the game are shown, with several of them seeming anxious and looking at their watches. As Hughes is about to order his bodyguards to kill Playa, the yacht explodes, ending the game on a cliffhanger.

The game also has an online multiplayer mode for Xbox Live that supports up to 1-12 people. Players can join a gang and engage in street warfare with other gangs online. Saints Row features 4 different online games. Gangsta Brawl is a standard deathmatch. Big Ass Chains forces players to collect chains by killing people, and then depositing them for points. A bonus is awarded for delivering more chains at once. Protect Tha Pimp is a team based game, in which one team must escort the pimp to a destination point, while the other team must kill the pimp or prevent their opponents from reaching this point. It is very similar to the VIP mode from Counter-Strike. Blinged Out Ride is another team based game in which two teams must raise enough money from killing opponents and collecting chains to upgrade the team’s vehicle several times in the Mechanic.

Saints Row 2 (2008)

Saints Row

I asked Lin to hook up with the Rollerz. We don’t know much about these fuckas, so I wanted one of us on the inside.

Lin reveals she is undercover in the Westside Rollerz at the church.

Playa first sees Lin in the Saints’ church following the reclamation of Harrowgate (and with it the entire Saint’s Row district); not content with Saint’s Row, Julius assigns his lieutenants to work on removing each of the three enemy gangs from Stilwater. Lin, a lieutenant in the 3rd Street Saints, is asked by Julius to go undercover and infiltrate the Westside Rollerz in an attempt to bring them down from the inside.

Playa somewhat assumes the role of being her handler, visiting her at secret locations to be updated on what she has learned. Lin first meets Playa at a parking lot outside the Ultor Dome and informs them of «a shipment of high performance cars is coming in today». Lin has Playa hijack the delivery truck and deliver it to Samson, who outfits the vehicles with «a few surprises» before finishing the delivery.

I don’t like the idea of Lin going undercover, you roll with people long enough and pretty soon you start thinkin’ like ’em…

Later, at a nightclub, Lin reveals that there is an upcoming race and that the cars being used – the same cars that Playa stole – have been «rigged to blow once the engine reaches a high enough temperature»: Lin requests Playa take part in the race and force the racers to use their nitrous, thereby activating the explosives. Fellow 3rd Street Saints lieutenant Troy, who is deeply concerned over Lin’s well-being, helps out by taunting the Rollerz into activating their nitrous.

Lin saves Donnie from Playa as part of her plan to get in close with the higher-ups of the gang.

Lin becomes frustrated with the slow progress she has made in the Rollerz and devises a plan to «get in good with Price’s crew» by having Playa raid a garage; Lin shows at the last moment and drives the owner, Donnie, away before Playa reaches him. Lin knows that Donnie is close friends with the Westside Rollerz’ leader, Joseph Price, and manipulates Donnie into thinking she has saved his life.

Donnie gratefully takes Lin to meet Joseph Price, as well as Price’s uncle William Sharp, who financially backs the gang. Lin utilizes her new position in the Rollerz to have Playa disrupt their plans regarding the collection of parts for an upcoming shipment. During this time, Donnie bonds with Lin as they spend time together. After hearing of the Saints’ recent actions, Sharp deduces that Lin has been betraying the Rollerz (as only Lin, Donnie, Price, and himself knew of the car parts collection) and promises Price that he will take care of it.

Holding her captive at a local pool hall, Sharp forces Lin to phone Playa and lure them there. When Playa arrives, they fight towards where she is being held but they are knocked unconscious while trying to untie her from the chair.

Lin was working with the Saints. Now would you give me a hand? This car is heavy… Donnie, where are you going?

William Sharp submerges Lin’s Voxel in the Stilwater river with Lin and Playa trapped inside.

Sharp ties up and incapacitates the two in the back of Lin’s Voxel near the river, where he invites Donnie to reveal to him her betrayal. Lin attempts to explain herself to Donnie but is shot by Sharp wielding a .44 Shepherd. Donnie, shocked and heartbroken, leaves the scene. Sharp closes the trunk of the Voxel and pushes the vehicle into the river, submerging it. Lin finds her lighter but only manages to set Playa free before she drowns. Before she dies, Lin remarks on Donnie’s words, «Did you hear that asshole Donnie? He said I was his girl».

Following her death, Playa kills Sharp in retribution. Soon after, Lin’s body is found floating in the river in the morning. After removing all enemy gang presence and claiming Stilwater for their own, Julius phones Playa and congratulates them for all they did. During the call, he briefly touches on the loss of Lin, saying that she was a soldier and that she knew the risk. Donnie reclaims Lin’s vehicle and, overcome with grief, mourns over her for the next several years.

Audio Logs

Although ultimately in Saints Row IV, Lin has three Audio Logs that can be found in the game data files. Like many Audio Logs, the first two are a reflection on past events, allowing insight from her perspective. The third audio log references events that never happened in the game.

Putting me in the Rollerz was a smart move on Julius’s part. We needed the intel, and I was the only tuner in the Saints. I knew when we staged that rescue at Donnie’s shop I was in. Price owed me one for saving his best friend and didn’t doubt me for a second. I probably should’ve been more careful about how often I passed the boss information, though…

Activities

Activities award both unique rewards and Respect, a form of currency which is used to make various Upgrades, which are then bought using money.

Completing activities also results in «owning» the surrounding territory, which increases City Income.

Diversions return in Saints Row: The Third, such as diving off a building with a parachute.

Weapons

Weapons allow the player to engage enemies in combat, both offensively and defensively. Unlike the previous games, weapons can now be upgraded.

Vehicles allow the player to travel across the city of Steelport with efficiency. To aid in this, there is a large variety of vehicles, including cars, boats, planes, helicopters, tanks, VTOLs, and even hoverbikes.

Overview[]

Saints Row was released August 29, 2006 in North America, and on September 1, 2006 in Europe and Australia. Though the game was also announced for the Sony PlayStation 3 to be released at a later date, this port was canceled in favor of putting more resources towards the game’s sequel, Saints Row 2, for release on both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. On May 29, 2018, Saints Row was added to the XBox One Backwards Compatibility list.

Saints Row is similar to Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas in terms of story and gameplay. The game takes place in the fictional city of Stilwater which is plagued by urban violence between four rival gangs. Playa, caught in the middle of the violence, is offered the chance to join the 3rd Street Saints to help fight the other gangs. In addition to several common elements with the Grand Theft Auto series, Saints Row introduces many additional features, including extensive Player Customization, a 64-vehicle garage, a GPS, an activity and respect system, and online multiplayer modes.

The game was released to commercial and critical success, selling over 1 million copies by the end of 2006, and prompting for development of its sequel.[reference?]

According to the development section of the Prima guide, originally Oleg wasn’t cloned, he was a leg breaker for The Syndicate, who joined the Saints to be with his role model: Josh Birk.

Saints Row (2006)

Начиная с 2000 года, Volition принадлежала ныне почившему издательству THQ, которое и заказало ей игру, способную конкурировать с GTA.

Saints Row вышла в 2006 году, когда GTA: San Andreas уже два года как рвала чарты продаж, а игровые студии с переменным успехом пытались ей подражать, выпуская клонов разной степени паршивости (вроде Driver: Parallel Lines, Scarface: The World is Yours или True Crime: New York City). Первая Saints Row во многом тоже напоминала San Andreas, вплоть до сюжетной канвы, посвященной войне группировок, и открытого мира с обилием транспортных средств и оружием, а также свободой в выборе миссий.

Но было и кое-что отличное от культового детища Rockstar Games.

Например, полноценная система кастомизации персонажа, позволяющая вылепить уникального героя, которому предстояло вознести банду «Святых с 3-ей улицы» на вершину криминального Олимпа города Стилуотер. Или множество побочных заданий, которые необходимо было выполнять для улучшения репутации.

Наконец, более красивая графика и яркая картинка – что неудивительно, учитывая, что GTA: SA вышла на предыдущем относительно новинки от Volition поколении консолей.

Увы, оценить это могли не все: Saints Row была эксклюзивом конcоли Xbox 360. К РС в середине двухтысячных многие издатели относились как к рассаднику пиратства, а версия для PS3 после длительной разработки была отменена. Тем не менее игру ждали положительные отзывы и достаточные для запуска в производство сиквела продажи.

Приманка для конвоя

Звоним Пирсу, после чего направляемся к центру сбора «Святых». Нужно оказаться на базе, где дислоцируется отряд «Кабан». Если получится – стоит поскорее добраться до СВВП и просто его угнать. Взлетев, легко расстреливаем противников, оставшихся на земле.

Потом посещаем другие базы «Кабана», легко уничтожая там все и всех. Когда долетаем до моста, где оказался окружен конвой, расстреливаем вражеские танки. Лучше использовать для этого мощное оружие – правой кнопкой мышки. Разносим их и летим к Олегу. Если вам не хочется тратить на полет много времени, нажимаем кнопку «F», входя в скоростной режим истребителя.

Помогаем Олегу разобраться в технике врагов, а потом догоняем самолет. Уничтожить сначала придется мелкую технику – самолет станет доступным для уничтожения только после этого.

Эпилог

Подытоживая обзор игры, хотелось бы еще учесть такой маленький момент. Вы должны будете не только в одиночку, но и вместе с членами вашей банды уничтожать противников. Для этого можно будет переключаться в любое время в игре между персонажами. Так что удачи вам, начинающий гангстер!

Особенности Saints Row 1

Герои. Вы сможете постепенно находить для себя сподвижников в игре. Все другие персонажи должны будут вам подчиняться в процессе6 игры, поэтому вы постепенно сможете возглавить свою собственную криминальную группировку.
Машины. Вы не только сможете угонять автомобили, вы еще сможете найти на свалке авто и превратить ее в настоящую и крутую тачку. Измените все параметры машины, оттюнингуйте ее и можно круто уходить от погонь.
Локации. В преступном мире вы сможете посещать разнообразные локации. Это будут и трассы, а также и злачные места, где вы всегда сможете договориться с другими гангстерами. Устройте неожиданные засады, и получайте за это хорошие очки в игре.
Графика. Очень необычная графика и просто уникальная система диалогов, учитывая еще тот факт, что игра полностью русифицирована.
